We are living in Bologna for an extended period, and this is a neighborhood restaurant for us. We have been there several times, and each time marvel at the imaginative menu the chef prepares. The chef (and owner, we assume) comes to your table, and goes through the menu for you. He is clearly an artist with food (watch his face as he describes dishes): he starts always with an appetizer, which has a common theme (recently with asparagus in season, that was the theme), and describes 3 variations - order this! All three come, and they are always yummy. He then goes through the rest of the menu verbally (note that if you don't speak Italian, you should look at the menu outside on the front door before coming into the restaurant to have a feeling for what you want): stop him at parts of the dinner you are interested in: the primi (excellent pasta of many types, gnocchi, etc.) or the secondi (or both). The portions here are not too large, so you can "eat your way through the menu" if you are hungry. When you arrive at dessert, often he will bring over many choices of tarts/fruits/mascarpone/etc., even if you say you only want a small amount. Take what you like, and leave the rest. You will find that this restaurant delivers in terms of quality, imaginative food, and it is reasonably priced. We only review restaurants that we like in Bologna, and this is one of the best so far!
