Having heard the great reviews about the restaurant prior to our 4 night stay in bologna we decided to go on our last night and what a great decision it was! We were greeted by a very smily happy lady who offered us a table either inside or outside. As we were quite warm we decided to eat inside and take in the great atmosphere of the small family run restaurant. She advised us on some fantastic red wine called Conde which accompanied out fillet steak, cooked perfectly, and the meatballs. She kindly made a small portion of tortellini for me to try too. At the end of the meal she did a small selection of cheese for us to top off a great meal. Fantastic value for money. What a hidden gem.

For our first evening in Bologna we ate at one of the restaurants near our hotel. It was a very good choice. The small menu was full of local specialities, perfectly cooked, and with good local wine. I had to start with the Bologna signature dish of tagliatelle al ragu which was far better than anything similar I had tasted before. I followed this with another typical Bolognese dish of cutlet with cheese and Parma ham, again very well cooked, as were the accompanying grilled vegetables. Additionally, the house wine was excellent; a Sangiovese (the main grape of Chianti) from the local area and I think from the owner's own vineyard. The service was great, friendly, cheerful and efficient. Finally, the bill, for this quality of food and wine, was very reasonable.

I visited with 2 local business friends this week. The general impression when you enter is a well run restaurant with attentative staff. All tables but the one reserved for us were occupied which is also a good sign! The furnishing is traditional and elegant. With a little bit of discussion in Italian with the female owner my friends ordered an appetizer, a mix of wonderful local small dishes including cheese, local bread, grilled vegetables, served quickly and with finesse. After we had beef steaks, mine marinated with wine. The meat was prepared exactly medium as ordered, again nicely presented and with fantastic taste. For wines we tasted the Conde, both rose and red. For desert we could have had some fantastic things but we settled for small portion of Tiramisu and a glass of limoncello with our coffee. What I as foreigner especially appreciated was the careful, quick, friendly service. Our lady and owner was never far away and made sure we had a great experience. Hey, Italians and everyone else: These people know their trade, make sure you pay them a visit next time in Bologna!

We recently ate here with a friend who had been before. She picked our entrees and we were delighted with the taste treat. The pastas were wonderful and we ate every bite! This restaurant sets away from the main part of town and is close to Hotel Porto Mamolo. Give it a try and you'll enjoy a great meal.
