We ate at this restaurant at a recommendation from the staff at the hotel where we were staying. We arrived near dinnertime at the hotel, and - according to the hotel staff - there is nowhere to eat in the area unless you make reservations. They made the reservations for us to eat at this restaurant on the night of our arrival.

When we arrived, our server (who may be the owner?) was very friendly, at first. At her suggestion, we ordered the Lasagne Verdi al Bolognese (the noodles in this dish were made with spinach) and the Maccheroncini al Pesto de Sangiovese. We also had bread and drank water with our meal.

Our food was delicious and we were quite satisfied. Our server came to our table when we had finished eating and asked us what else we wanted to order. We did not want to order anything else at the time and informed her of this. She stated, "I'll wait and let you decide if you end up wanting something else." She would not take "no" for an answer. We then waited for several minutes for our server to come back to us. She never did. We watched her wait on others. She passed by our table several times and even made eye contact with us, but she never came back to check on us. It made all of us feel quite awkward, almost embarrassed to be in this predicament. After almost a half hour, we asked another server for our check. We ended up paying for our bill through the other server.

Although the food was good and the restaurant nice, the server's behavior made us uncomfortable enough where we would not visit here again.

thanks for being my restaurant and having it dedicated a review even after one year. I'm sorry for the embarrassment that we have created , but believe me it was done in good faith. We, as can be understood from review done before you always try to be present and to settle in all the ways our clients, making them feel like their case.Mi apologize again for the inconvenience and hope to see her again at his next visit to Bologna . Sincerely

Second five star we give in italy.the service from the experienced hosts was extremely good, and the lady spoke great english. We had a pasta with tomato sauce and mozerella and a steak with balsamico and salad. Both were way beyond expectations and among the best dishes we have had in italy these two weeks. And the Amarone was aaamazing!!

Wife and I went to Al Sangiovese on TA recommendations. We were not disappointed! This mom-and-pop run restaurant has wonderfully prepared dishes and a nice wine selection. Probably the best meal we had while in Bologna (out of 3 restaurants we tried).

Our hotel recommended this wonderful little place for lunch on our arrival. The food was excellent and the staff coped beautifully with our lack of Italian.

We were looking for authentic, fresh Italian food..and found it here! I had the Tortellini in broddo as a starter and even though it looked a bit plain the taste was amazing; tasty filling. The waitress didn't speak English but really tried to be as helpful as possible.
