“to avoid”

my worst experience in Bologna. Food is miserable, the prices even worse. It is a true nuisance for the whole ghetto.

“This Place is a Trap!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

We were staying nearby, and it looked inviting and quirky, so we decided to try it. This is a mistake! Everything looks good on the surface, with romantic tables under the porticos on a picturesque street. The specials sound delicious. But...it's a scam. The food isn't fresh. The spaghetti vongele was basically a chili oil sauce with old clams. The vegetarian lasagne was boring and tasteless. The salad was pickled, so it might be years old. And the prices changed and were raised. We were not told most of the prices, and we paid double or triple what we paid in other places in Bologna. Steer clear!

“Quirky and imaginative setting with lovely food and atmosphere, which costs 3 to 4 times what it should..”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2012

On a little backstreet away from the busy centre, its setting is perfect. You can hear 20's style french music playing along the street and the appearance is immediately endearing. Lots of random furniture - a mix of styles that looks like the inlay of a Florence and the Machine album. An old TV in a corner plays silent black and white movies and the menus are written out on cardboard - the owner certainly has a sense of humour about interior design.
Unfortunately there is no such attitude towards the prices. Its not a real restaurant - its a winery of sorts, so you HAVE to buy an alcoholic drink. This is fine with my other half and I and the red wine is fantastic. The menu looks pricey so as its lunch we decide to share a canneloni meant for 2 people for 21 euros. Its very nice indeed though a bit small (two tubes of canneloni for each person) to be called a meal for two. The real problems come when its time to pay our bill. The single glass of house red is 8.50, the canneloni has suddenly gone up to 26 euros. The cost of the table on the bill is 5 euros (and there was no bread or anything served) On top of this a 10% service charge. The mostached waiter spent some time writing this receipt. Clearly he was weighing up how stupid this particular English couple were. The answer was quick to come - very stupid.
In total we paid 53.90 for a canneloni for two, a glass of red, a bottle of beer and a bottle of natural water.
Such a shame that the atmosphere the owners have created is ruined by this clear abuse of tourists that keep their business running.

“Listen to me and don't go!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2011

The restaurant is still open only because, given the central location and the attractive appearance is a tourist trap. Certainly has not regular customers. Nobody likes to be fooled. You spend so much, you eat pretty bad and the service is poor. Dear tourists turn away otherwise you will remain a bad memory of the restaurant in Bologna.

“A nice lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2011

We stumbled across this place in the mid afternoon. The old waiter was very helpful. I had Tagliatelle Bologna and my girlfriend had a creamy pasta. We were both very satisfied with the meals. The prices are, perhaps, a tad on the pricey side but overall it was worth the visit.
