il cannuccio located just in the middle of old center of bologna. it is a small place (15 tables max.) and reservation is necessary if you want to eat there. i will not say no english menu, they don' t have even italian menu or they prefer to talk to the customer instead of giving the menu. if you are new there, they offer mixed menu to taste everything. be sure that they will serve more than you can eat. at our dinner that was 9 plates before lemon sorbet and home made limoncello. we paid 90 eur for this dinner with a bottle of white wine. so, they serve delicious seafood in a very nice decorated restaurant. don' t miss il cantuccio if you ever visit bologna.

I loved this little seafood trattoria, from the wonderfully cluttered nautical-themed interior decorations, to the friendly relaxed service, to the beautiful, fresh seafood and the quality prosecco. While our waiter did not really speak English, he good naturedly persevered with his smattering of English and assistance from the helpful man at the next table. He succeeded in communicating that we could either order from the menu or choose the degustation (which we did) and, if we finished the degustation, we could order additional courses (we didn't need to as we were quite full). I loved the fried baccala, tuna steak and swordfish best, but all were wonderful, and there would have been at least 7 courses (I lost track of exactly how many). The degustation finished with limoncello, lemon sorbet and a dessert plate, the highlight of which was a beautiful pannacotta. I was surprised when the bill only came to 90 euros for the two of us and thought this represented very good value. This is a really great place and I highly recommend it.

My wife and I ate here twice on our recent trip to Bologna. No menu. The first night the friendly proprietor (from Sicily) picked about six small seafood dishes each better than the next followed by a pasta and home made lemoncello. Everything was wonderful. The second night we ordered a salt encrusted sea bass for two. Amazing! Then a pasta with tiny clams in a sauce. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely evening in this bustling fish restaurant. There was no menu and the waiters spoke very little english. The waiter explained that he would bring us a variety of fresh fishfor antipasti and then we would have a pasta course (we think). He also recommended a wine which was very tasty. We were brought about 5 or 6 different antipasti fish courses, the first of which was the hightlight. It was a fresh white fish served in a delicious crisp batter. After this we recieved three different dishes based around squid which were all good but none exceptional. We also had mussels and swordfish which were tasty and a tuna dish which was the least impressive. After all this we had gotten very full and could not eat any more so we could not manage to eat a main course which was a pity as judging by what people were eating on the tables around us could have been the highlight. We had a dessert which was a variety of different cakes which included a pannacotta chocolate cake and ice cream. Overall the dessert was good. The food was lovely but be aware you will have to have a very open mind to different types of fish when going to this restaurant and save yourself for the second course.

Quite an experience. There was no menu - but we were told there would be a fish antipasti followed by pasta. The fish antipasti comprised six or seven different courses - we lost count! All well prepared and presented. Staff welcoming and helpful but not much English. Not cheap and not perhaps the place for a newcomer to Italy but a great place for those who enjoy Italy. We finished by visiting the (tiny) kitchen to thank the cooks! Warmly recommended.
