“Good classic with modern dishes too”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

First experience at classic Da Cesari, it was a good one.
Appetizer: mixed cold cuts, some of them home made. Very good quality.
Both tortellini in brodo and tagliatelle al ragu were very tasty and fresh.
Meatballs, veal with cheese and parma ham also juicy and well made.
The only thing I would have suggested a green vegetable (spinaches or similar) instead of roasted potatoes with the veal, which is a pretty heavy (but delicious) dish.
Pinoletto sparkling wine very nice and well priced.
Dessert also well made (zabaione semifreddo).
Service very kind, atmosphere very warm. Check super fair. Absolutely a good choice if you are in Bologna.

“The most food i've ever eaten!”
Reviewed January 2, 2013 via mobile

Our hotel booked the reservation for new years eve, fixed price dinner. I ate way more than I should, couldn't really appeciate the final two courses (six total). Bottle of wine, Champaign, and bottled water for 85euro pp. unbelievable value. Extremely gracious staff on an incredibly busy night.

“Excellent food at a reasonable price”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Visited Da Cesari on our recent visit to Bologna. The menu was quite extensive and we finally opted for a starter of fresh porcini with a dressing of oil and shavings of parmesan - absolutely beautiful and fresh tasting. For the main course I ordered the guinea fowl and my husband had the rabbit. The food was plentiful, tasty and well cooked. We ordered a bottle of San Giovesi wine which was delicious and inexpensive. The service was efficient and friendly even though the restaurant was nearly full. Well worth a visit.

“Possibly the best meal we had in Bologna?”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

We ate here last Thursday, the last night of our short 3 day break to Bologna. We didn't have a reservation but arrived about 8pm and were lucky to get one of the last tables for two. It was busy but the staff were friendly. Our waitress (Sylvia?) spoke a little English so we got by. I had the specials of the night, green lasagne with ragu (well, in Bologna you have to, don't you?) followed by roast pork layered with porcini mushrooms and smoked cheese. My wife had a porchini tartlet with porchini salad followed by a sweet and sour rabbit casserole with white polenta. We also had a first glass bottle of local red wine for 18 euros.(look out for Sangiovese del Rubicone) The meal was all very tasty, well cooked but not too heavy. We both had room for dessert. I had sorbetta di zucca which was topped with balsamic vinegar (amazing) and my wife had homemade pannacotta (excellent). All the staff (and, I think, the owner) worked their socks off to make the whole meal very enjoyable. Probably the best meal we had in Bologna, by a short head.

“OK I guess”
Reviewed October 30, 2012 via mobile

The salada caprese was OK, the serving a bit small. I went for the special, beef with scarmoza and porcini. Looked good but could be much better. So overall not impressed.
