our experience in this well proclaimed Restaurant: absolutely awfull ! We left after our first course,
which was supposed to be the restaurant`s signature dish. Full of expectation we followed the waiter´s advice. A dish with home-made Pasta and three different types of fish. It could only be
ordered for two and would take a little while. So we ordered some house wine which seemed to be more related to vinegar than to wine. Well, the dish arrived quickly and was no more than luke warm. The colour: about 20 shades of grey. The pasta was definetely not al dente, more as of a marshmallow consistence. The fish was cut to the tiniest possible pieces and so dry that it was definetely killed three times over. Quite conveniently the before good knowledge of the English language vanished when we complained. What a dissapointment !

A little difficult to find, but once there we were shown to a table as we had not booked. We were told that it as full and asked to leave by a certain time but this was totally acceptable.

We were served quickly and the menu is full and varied.

As we left, we were offered drinks on the house and definitely left feeling that we had made a very good choice for dinner. my carpaccio of fish for starters was excellent and followed by a lobster linguine. Very nice restaurant with a good atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We arrived at matusel after 8pm on a Wednesday.

There was no problem getting a table without a reservation, because most tables were empty.

The waitress did not speak English (and we don't speak much Italian), but handed us an English menu without our exchanging any words (it must be the American shoes!).

A second waitress speaks some English and was able to answer all of our questions.

We ordered a cuttlefish dish in pasta with a black sauce, a tuna primo, a ravioli secondo, a swordfish secondo, and desserts, a ricotta pie dessert, passion fruit-lemon sorbet, and beverages.

The cuttlefish primo, slightly spicy, and the sorbet were the highlights of the dinner. They were excellent.

The secondos came with various vegetables on the plate, which was a welcome change from some of the monotonic secondos we've had at other restaurants.

Besides the cuttlefish and sorbet, the other dishes were definitely above average.

Service was excellent.

The chairs have a thatched seat and became somewhat uncomfortable for both of us by the time dessert arrived.

Prices were good, considering quality and quantity of food.

The art on the wall is edgy and entertaining. Even if you don't need to use the toilette, you should walk down the hallway toward the toilette to see the period advertisements on the walls.

I would like to give 4 1/2 stars, but we lean more towards five stars than four.

Rather than re-visit this restaurant, we will try other highly-rated Bologna restaurants in the future.

After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor we went here on our first evening in Bologna. Although it was not easy to find, we were very happy to have made this choice. From the beginning everything was perfect. Very friendly welcome and service, nice relaxed atmosphere, great wine, delicious food. Altogether for a very nice price. We can advise Matusel to everyone.
