Thank goodness we didn't need to queue around the perimeter for 4/5 hours by gaining access to the Basilica from the Sistine Chapel.
The interior is amazing. On such a grand and vast scale I've never seen anything like it before.

Do not be put off by the long queue as it is fast moving.

Once you enter, you will not regret as the ceiling is amazing as are the past papals carvings.

One can even have a quite prayer even though the throng of visitors are none stop.

Glad we took a guided tour as it was crowded for the Easter weekend.

Decided to skip Vatican musuem as it looked very very busy and so navigation itself would have taken a lot of time

The visit to the basilica was a bit hurries as they started sending people out around 12.30 for Good Friday preprations.

Priceless works of great artists and thousand years of history unfold in this great monument.
We avoided long queues by purchasing Omnia Vatican pass in advance online from London. Fast track entry. Very crowded.

It was a pleasure experiencing this marvelous creation of mankind. It has a rich history and is worth the visit. Highly recommend the audio guide. Get the ticket for the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel so you can enter the Basilica from the alternate entrance. This way you don't have to queue and wait for entry. We got into the Museum nice and early at 9.
