We did the underground Colosseum tour with Carlotta and it was really great. We were quite fortunate to be in a very small group with just ourselves and 1 other. Our guide Carlotta was excellent. She is very knowledgeable and quite interesting. I had toured the Colliseum a few years ago, but this time, we added the underground tour. It was so interesting to see how things were done, both above ground and below. I would highly recommend this tour and any other tour with Carlotta.

Our tour guide was with Carlotta. She was very enthusiastic, answered all questions and more and made us all very comfortable. We had an amazing time and would recommend what a life tours to anyone going to Rome. Thank you again for a great time!

Very well orchestrated and outstanding guide from start to finish including a nice breakfast. We never got bored even for a second since the guide (Elaine) kept us engaged with her fun facts and her great personality. She reminds us to be courteous to others and spent the most time that the group wanted to do. This is a great way to see the Vatican - museum, basilica and sistene chapel. No need to wait in line, amazing guide (Elaine) and learned so much in 3.5 hours.

Our tour of night time Colosseum was great! The atmosphere of that place at night is very special. We have also done a regular Colosseum visit during the day, but the place is so packed it really detracts from the experience. By contrast - going on a tour at night is the way to do it! You have the place essentially to yourselves as a small group. Our guide was Mario and he is super knowledgeable and keep the experience fun, memorable and engaging! We actually remember the stories through which he told of the history of the place. Highly recommend!

Take a guide when going to the see the Vatican, it makes ALL the difference and is money well spent. Our guide Grant was just fantastic. With sublime wit and an encyclopedic knowledge of Rome he entertained and educated us for nearly 3 hours. I could not recommend him or this tour strongly enough.

From the initial booking on line from Australia to the tour itself was seamless with enquiries answered promptly and warmly. We took the Colosseum Underground Tour which was fantastic and the guide really knew the history and how to deliver it. We had been to the Colosseum before on our own but got so much more out of a guided tour. The tour also included the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill which we missed on our last trip and was just as impressive . We also opted for a private day tour from Rome to Pompeii and the Amalfi coast which was well worth the drive and early rise and was made even more comfortable by our friendly and knowledgeable driver . Pompeii was a lot bigger than we realised but our excellent guide Andrea chose the best areas to give us an insight into the town , again he really knew his stuff and was very entertaining and passionate about the history of Pompeii and the region . We did some other tours in Italy with other tour groups but I can honestly say that I would choose What a Life Tours where available over the others.

We met our tour guide at the What a Life tour office and spent 3 hours in the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. Our tour guide, Mauricio was very knowledgeable about the history of the Vatican, the art in the Vatican and also had many antidotes and little special things that he pointed out. We will remember this tour and the Vatican Museum and Sistine chapel all of our lives. It was one of our most memorable mornings of our one month in Italy. Thanks What a Life!

We were really looking forward to our tour of the Colosseum and Forum, but as luck would have it, it was blowing a gale and tipping down with rain when we met up with our guide who regretfully told us that due to the bad weather, the Colosseum was closed so our tour couldn't go ahead. He was very apologetic and offered us an upgraded tour to include exploring under the arena for two days later or a full refund. Of course we chose the former and kept our fingers crossed that the weather would behave.
Fortunately, the weather turned out to be perfect. We met up again with Marcello our guide and three other couples. One of the many plus points of choosing What a Life Tours is that there are never more than twelve in a group which means you never feel like just a number and there's lots more interaction between the group and chances to ask questions. The tour was amazing. Marcello our guide was just brilliant. Obviously passionate about his subject but never ever just spouting facts and figures. He engaged with us and was funny, friendly and a joy to listen to. The three and a half hours just flew by and we felt we had learnt so much in a fun and informative way.
Arriving back at our hotel it dawned on us that our planned trip to the Vatican the next day, which happened to be our last day couldn't go ahead as it was a national holiday and the Vatican was.closed. Fortunately, a quick chat on the very handy online chat facility meant we could quickly book another tour that afternoon with the delightful Fredrica. Like Marcello, her knowledge of the Vatican museums, the Sistene chapel and Saint Peters was second to none and for the second time that day we enjoyed the most amazing tour.
I would absolutely recommend What a Life Tours and am not surprised that they are rated the number one tour company in Rome.We can't wait to return to Rome soon and I'll definitely be booking their food tour,

Regardless of your beliefs the Vatican is a great half-day tour. Beyond its religious significance is an art collection beyond expectation and not just paintings and sculptures but the walls and ceilings throughout are a continuous stream of different styles and forms of expression.

Anna’s enthralling delivery of the stories behind key pieces and rooms is astonishing.

PS - a shame the Catholics stole most of the materials and contents form other structures and places!!
