La pieta, a work sculpture by michaelangelo is located in san peter basilica in rome. It is so amazing, i just stood an hour and watched the sculpture. Looks so real, so intense A must see in rome and in the basilica.

Michaelangelo’s Pieta is one of the world’s artistic treasures. It is perfection and does not rely on visitors being art experts. Coming across it almost by chance as you enter St Peter’s Basilica is one of the delights of overseas travel. Being able to stand in front of it and be consumed by its peaceful expressiveness, is a memory for a lifetime.

The sculpture is more beautiful than in pictures and is behind glass but you can enjoy it with good access up to the glass railings. Done by Michelangelo who apparently was a loner and not know to be a very nice fellow.

It is protected by a bulletproof glass. Maybe the biggest attraction of the St Peter’s Basilica. Telephoto lens (200-300mm) are recommended.

a genius enfowed with multiple talents, Michelangelo's Pieta is a standing example of his exemplary creation. it is so lifelike that one can see the folds on the dkin, the folds on the garment, the veins in the hands and the pain and agony in virgin mary's eyes.

La Pieta is located in the chapel of the Pieta in St Peter's Basilica, is created by Michelangelo between 1498-1499, in the white marble.
The statue is signed on the belt that crosses the virgin's chest diagonally.
The sculpture represent the Virgin Mary holding Christ's body, after the crucifixion.
