We visited St Peter square whilst in Rome and whilst the square and church are very impressive, it’s such a shame that it all a big tourist trap.
Plenty of beggars and rough sleepers in the area close to the square. Makes you wonder why the Catholic Church doesn’t help the needy, rather than making a future from tourists visiting the Vatican museum.
Shame on the church.

Dont get why such a rich church has so many folks looking for hand out. One lady had a 6 month old baby in her arms and it was pouring down. Made me mad as grandparent. Yea its not the churchs fault but on there grounds. Cmon man!

Lots to see in Saint Peter's square including fresh drinking water from the fountains. Street vendors everywhere! Just tell them no and keep walking.

Right in front of St Peter's Basilica is the location of this plaza..If you visited the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museum, then stand on top of the square to see from where Pope gives his blessings... Otherwise you can come and stand on the ground from where people get to see Pope.. Admire the architecture by Bernini...

Beautiful, climb to the top of the Basilica to fully appreciate Bernini's symmetry in the architectural design

Fabulous place, stunning at sunset. We went here on our first afternoon. We did a skip the line tour including the Vatican museum, Sistine chapel and St. Peter’s basilica.

We've all seen the Square on TV but to stand on the grounds is amazing. You may enter the square without any ticket to take photos, etc.

There are plenty of shops nearby to grab a bite to eat, shop, or book a tour.

The square is huge. It was great to stand in the middle of the square that I have seen on TV several times. Standing at the back of the square gives a nice view of the Basilica. One can see the Swiss Guard after leaving the Basilica and heading out to the square.
