Last time I was there, nothing was scaffolded. This time, a good portion was and it made a huge difference. You couldn't appreciate the symmetry. Make sure to note that there are I believe four rows of columns on the curves and it appears there is only one.

We weren't exactly sure when Christmas Eve Mass started, but we joined several thousand people and caught the second half of the mass. Communion was given on the Square. The skies were clear and the moon was clearly visible. It was a very festive atmosphere and a magical night.

We were here for the Christmas Day blessing by the pope at noon. We arrived by 11 and there was plenty of room, despite the tens of thousands of people that had arrived. The whole experience was positive, the mix of languages and nationalities, and the pope reading through a list of Christmas blessings in different languages, met with cheers by whatever nationality/language he spoke. The blessing itself took about 20 minutes, not too long, but long enough to be memorable. If you are in Rome in Christmas, then doing the Christmas Blessing is certainly an experience you will not forget

A must see when in Rome! This where all the people gather to see and hear the Pope's blessings! Also the Basilica is located in front of the square! You have to queue through security when going to the Basilica!

To see the Building of St. Peters Basilica with all the statues on top and the statue of Apostle Peter, it is an amazing attraction.
