there is only one piece of information you need to know which is you must book in advance, go without and you will be queueing for at least 2 hours where the pre book people walk passed you to the front of the queue and enter before you. Ignore the 100's of people offering queue jumping and tours its just a rip off! Obviously the reason you are going is to see the Sistine chapel but to get there you have to navigate the museums which can take at least an hour with the 1000's of other people trying to get to the main attraction. it is however worth the wait although its probably not what you are expecting, stunning all the same.

Fantastic place but too many people so its very hard to stop and look at things. There are apparently guided tours in the morning before the general public are admitted and I think thats probably the way to go.

I was looking forward to seeing the Sistine chapel for the artwork but having to trudge forwards a yard at a time for what seemed like days left me gasping for freedom by the time we got there and then being shouted at by guards to keep quiet encouraged me to make a dash for the nearest exit. There was an atmosphere of outrageous wealth (built on mythology and hypocrisy) and arrogance, which was reinforced by the guards and Vatican police outside who were moving on the elderly women beggars who apparently made the place look bad (while it was the 'police officers' attitude that actually looked atrocious). While it was obvious the Vatican is already rich beyond the dreams of avarice, it doesn't stop the place trying to bleed the tourists dry. Avoid like a biblical plaque!

Easy access for wheelchair users, the map was a bit confusing, prices in snack bar - fine. Crowds upon crowds, some people okay with wheelchair users, some people really helpful and some people I would put in a wheelchair and *******

What a dull place! After the Duomo of Florence and St Marks Basilica in Venice I was expecting more. Maybe I lack a degree of education, but a lot of big, brash frankly samey paintings, a few rugs hung on the wall and a good helping of gold leaf. Oh and thousands of people all trying to get selfies with the stuff. Not for me ta
