The place is quite hard to find, hidden among the tiny lanes of the old part of Tivoli, but it is definitely worth it! The quality of the pizza, and of the food, in general, ranges from average to high, and the prices are fair. To be honest, the one thing that gets to you is the atmosphere of the place, with a nice little courtyard at the entrance, and a tavern-like restaurant.
Feel free to go, expecially for dinner!

We arrived at 1430. It was no problem to eat a simple pasta for lunch. We took spaghetti a la carbonara and fettuchine al ragu. Simple dishes, prepared as it is supposed to be in Italy. Desert was panna cotta, homemade. Nice too. With two bottles of water and half a litre of red wine, plus two espresso doppio, it cost us 40 euro's. Give away prices!

After having trouble finding an open restaurant for lunch on a weekday in the old section of Tivoli (L'Elefantino Blu was supposed to be open but wasn't), we came across the Gallo d'Oro. We weren't sure if it was open or not. There were no customers inside when we walked in. The woman who emerged from the back spoke no English, but agreed to make us fettuccine pomodoro. When we asked for bread, she ran out to the bakery to get us some. The food was very good and the service was excellent. After the meal, she walked us through the narrow streets to show us the way to the Villa d'Este. A basic trattoria, this restaurant fit our needs perfectly.
