I stayed at Daphne boutique hotel on a solo trip, all the staff were fantastic and so welcoming. Rome is such a beautiful and homely city and the Daphne made my trip one to remember. I will definitely return.

The staff are extremely helpful. Even before we arrived they were calling us at home to help make our trip better. The communications were in perfect English (we are Canadian and speak french and English). For excellent eating, follow their restaurant suggestions. Remember to ask about where to get the best gelato in Roma!, maybe Italia? Many reviewers commented on the small elevator, it is a wonderfully safe hydraulic lift system, albeit a might tight for two adults with luggage - well we should all diet anyway! The location really is just steps from the "subway" exit, look for Alice's pizza next door to the almost unmarked door (their sign is artistically small). The Dapne is a great staging area to go into the "touristy" areas of Roma. Walk to the Spanish Steps, Borghese gallery, Trevi Fountain (not to be missed at night - very crowded and lively) and more. Ask the helpful staff for their suggestions and get the directions and name written on their supplied map of Roma.

Room Tip: If there is a big concern about travelling outside your room to use the bathroom (i.e. sleep naked) do not worry, the hotel supplies a big robe to wear.

the hotel staff could not have been more helpful. Whether booking museum tickets, suggesting restaurants, booking tours or arranging a personal, individual orientation tour, we could not have asked for more. Even during a 'lively' political demonstration at the nearby finance ministry, they were on hand to assist and make sure guests could get in and out without problem. Our room was larger than I expected (the biggest they had I think) and the fridge was handy for keeping water etc chilled. The location was great - handy enough to get to everywhere but on a quiet street so peaceful. The bottle of Prosecco on arrival was much appreciated.

We chose the Daphne on the basis of the reviews on TripAdvisor, and were very disappointed. First, it is not a hotel, but a B&B occupying one and a half floors of a shabby apartment building. Yes, the staff are very helpful, but they are in the HOSPITALITY industry, so they are expected to be. We had great difficulty finding the hotel - our taxi driver abandoned us in Piazza Barberini and we walked up Via San Basilio twice before noticing the very small brass plate marking the B&B. We found a minuscule office, a two person lift up to the 4th floor and a small and very brown room with a window onto a light well - not very glamorous to put it politely. The room was clean, as was the bathroom, but both could have done with a makeover, and better lighting. However our main problem with the whole place was the lack of public rooms. We love an evening drink before we dine, and there was nowhere to have it - no lounge or public area. We ended up bringing chairs from our room (there were 3 of us) into the corridor, and having a drink there, using a windowsill as our drinks table...we got used to it after a few days. I believe the Daphne could be a good place for first-time travellers, just out of "backpacker" but not really up to quality hotels - and that is not the impression the reviews give. If the management lowered their hyperbole, and admitted what they are selling, there would be less people like us, annoyed at being sold something that didn't live up to expectations.

For my daughter (15) and me, the Daphne Inn was a delightful pied-a-terre for five nights in early August. Elyssa and Alessandro and their exemplary staff offer information, wisdom and personal attention beyond what I've ever experienced in many decades of world travel. Every good review is true! We had three packed days visiting Rome's sights made even more successful by the great sleeps, comfort, cleanliness, healthy breakfasts and local knowledge we received at the Daphne Veneto. When our flight home was cancelled at the last minute, we were lucky to stay on. They left us a picnic breakfast to take with us to our pre-dawn flight, with a car booked to take us to the airport. Central, quiet, safe, with wi-fi and in-room laptop.Stop searching. Stay at the Daphne. It's that simple.
