“Enjoyed it so much we went back twice more!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

Visited this restaurant whilst out and about, looking for a place to eat, after a pre-dinner drink at our hotel. We noticed that locals were using this place so decided to take a table outside.
The food here was the best we had during our week in Rome. Over the next 3 evenings we enjoyed the fillet steak (15 euro) and their fantastic Tagliatelle salmone (9 euro) both were very good and freshly made and prepared. The desserts were also fantastic.
The atmosphere created by the staff made you one of the "locals" and they were friendly, efficient and were characters.
We suggest you enjoy the house wine, 1 litre only 8 euro, which is of good quality.
Very good food & wine with a great atmosphere and we recommend a visit as you will not be disappointed.

“Delicious Food, Lots of Locals”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2012

My sister's friends treated us to lunch here, so I can't speak to the overall cost of the meal. However, I can say that the food was absolutely delicious: I had the gnocchi and the shredded beef with arugula. We shared a liter of white wine and a big basket of bread. I think that my sister and I were the only non-locals in the restaurant, which probably says a lot about the place.

We were there on a Sunday afternoon and it looked as though there was a hot food appetizer buffet that people were serving themselves from. I was a little confused because I didn't see that on the menu and I forgot to ask our friends about it.

Other than that, the food was outstanding and the service was very nice. I would like to go back and try it again.

“Typical restaurant but nothing special.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

Merulana Street connects two of the great churches of Rome: St Maria Maggiore on one end and St Jean Lateran (San Giovanni in Laterano) on the other, so if you have an interest in the churches of Rome it is quite possible that you will pass by da Michele, 4 or 5 blocks from St Maria.
We were there with friends and their 2 young children. We ate a typical Roman meal of antipasti, primi (pasta of various kinds) and secondo (meat and fish dishes), and accompaniments. The meals were standard without being exceptional, service was good. The price for this lunch, with 1 litre of house wine was a little more than €100. About average for this kind of restaurant

“Family run, good spot for an evening of conversation.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2012

We were looking for an entirely local experience on the night of the Festival of Santa Maria. This spot was several blocks down from the square and offered all local foods without the cost of catering to tourists. The restauaunt fills up at about 8:30 and becomes lively with carafes of table wine and lots of family gatherings.
The menu was surprisingly complete, with veal, fish and pasta dishes and yes, Pizza (but that is usually for lunch). Everything was home made and service was good. Though we spoke no Italian, our waiter knew what we wanted when we asked for everything in English. My fish was slightly over cooked, but everyone else loved it. The dining room has lovely cream plastered walls and arches, you sure felt like its always been here, just like this.
