“Typical restaurant but nothing special.”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

Merulana Street connects two of the great churches of Rome: St Maria Maggiore on one end and St Jean Lateran (San Giovanni in Laterano) on the other, so if you have an interest in the churches of Rome it is quite possible that you will pass by da Michele, 4 or 5 blocks from St Maria.
We were there with friends and their 2 young children. We ate a typical Roman meal of antipasti, primi (pasta of various kinds) and secondo (meat and fish dishes), and accompaniments. The meals were standard without being exceptional, service was good. The price for this lunch, with 1 litre of house wine was a little more than €100. About average for this kind of restaurant

“Family run, good spot for an evening of conversation.”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

We were looking for an entirely local experience on the night of the Festival of Santa Maria. This spot was several blocks down from the square and offered all local foods without the cost of catering to tourists. The restauaunt fills up at about 8:30 and becomes lively with carafes of table wine and lots of family gatherings.
The menu was surprisingly complete, with veal, fish and pasta dishes and yes, Pizza (but that is usually for lunch). Everything was home made and service was good. Though we spoke no Italian, our waiter knew what we wanted when we asked for everything in English. My fish was slightly over cooked, but everyone else loved it. The dining room has lovely cream plastered walls and arches, you sure felt like its always been here, just like this.

“Good food, good service, great value”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

Just back from this restaurant and had to write to say how impressed we were with it. It's just off the main tourist trail, so the prices are very reasonable. My boyfriend had a pizza, which he said is the best one so far on this holiday, and I had some pasta. It was delicious. The service was good too. The waiters were friendly and pretty attentive.nwe're thinking of going back!

“Wonderful restaurant with great food an service!”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

My family of 4 went to this restaurant 3 times during our week long stay in Rome after our land lady recommended it to us. The atmosphere is wonderful in both the indoor and outdoor seating. The servers were helpful, attentive and patient. I simply cannot say enough great things about the food. Between 4 people with healthy appetites, we were able to try many menu items. Some of which include: veal in lemon sauce, veal in wine sauce, linguine with salmon, roasted potatoes, grilled sea bass, marinated mussels and many more. These were all delicious, fresh and well prepared. However, the highlight of da Michele is their dessert, especially their panna cotta. I highly recommend trying this restaurant!
