Where do i start, this restaurant was recommended to me by a family friend, he manages restaurants all over the world including two in Rome, he recommended i go to one of his favourite restaurants that he took his wife to whilst on their honeymoon. Its located a little out of the city centre but don’t let this put you off they have free taxi service which will pick you up and drop you back off your hotel all you need to do is get your hotel to ring and book a time and they will organise this for you ( we walked their and booked so we could check it out before the night ahead) We were picked up from our hotel ( Una hotel Roma , fantastic hotel) and had as to what i can only describe as the best meal i have ever had. I’m not sure where to start so i think first thing to mentioned is the warm welcoming we received from the hostess very nice lady who spoke fantastic English, she showed us to our table where we were greeted by our waiter for the evening, Gelil. Gelil made this experience one not to forget he made fantastic recommendations and my girlfriend and myself both started with the anti pasti, what we didn’t know was the epic journey we were about to be taken on. The food never ended, we were started with a basket of around 10 + salamis of which Gelil encouraged us try a bit of each. They were fantastic. This was only the beginning, we were then given fresh ham, mozzarella, and other cheeses. Followed by breaded vegetables, creamy potato mash and bread. Of course this was all accompanied by a great bottle of red the montepulciano marramiero incanto 2010 which again was recommended by Gelil which went down a treat. This was then followed by our mains I opted for the suckling pig, this was devine with crispy skin and juicy meat. My Girlfriend went for the sheep which was fantastic although she was petty full at this point. The overall experience was fantastic , it was great value for money at a cost of around 70 euros for both of us we both had starter and main with two bottles of red which were around 18 euros each. May I just point out that it is the most extensive wine list I have ever seen with wine from every region. This is a must go to restaurant a real authentic off the beat and track situated in a very nice residential street. I have been very fortunate to eat in fine dining all over the world and this place beats all of them hands down. When in Rome do as the Romans do, not what the tourists do.

This a very nice restaurant somewhat off the beaten track behind the Villa Borghese. You will probably need a taxi as I did but I would return. The menu does contain some specialities from the Abruzzo region but much of the offering appears to be traditionally Roman. We enjoyed excellent pasta with amatriciano and carbonara. The suckling pig was outstanding although this may not a dish for the squeamish as it does come from a small piglet. Bream was also fresh and cooked accurately. An earlier reviewer has complained about the price of the fish. If in doubt, ask before you confirm your order but assume you will pay twice the price of a regular main course. The clientele are largely local and the service is friendly.

Service and food were excellent. Get the basket of meats and cheeses. Well worth it. They even had a taxi take us back to our hotel free of charge.

The waiters were pushy, insanely rude and knew every trick in the book to make you pay more than you want to. Fish is sold by weight and if you are not careful, they will bring you one weighing best part of a kilo. The food, which is slammed down on the table in front of you, is reasonable but nothing special.

If you like a bit of a drama with your meal and don’t mind a bit of confrontation with waiters, you might enjoy it. But if you want a relaxed evening with friends or a romantic dinner for two, don’t even think about it.
