We had taken a food tour earlier in the week and fell in love with the Testaccio area of the city and the many dining options along the Tiber. We found this particular restaurant using the Tripadvisor Rome City App and were not disappointed.
Testaccio is known for unique presentation and preparation of the "5th quarter" which stems from the many years as Rome's slaughter house location. They prepare tripe, lungs, heart and tongue just to mention a few. Lo Scopettaro was an excellent choice to try these local recipes.
We dined on veal tripe (stomach) and various pastas, wine and delicious dessert. All were extremely well prepared and very good. Would definitely recommend making an evening visit to Testaccio for dinner at Lo Scopettaro, a walk through the lovely neighborhood and stroll along the Tiber north toward Vatican City. Makes for a very nice evening.
