The welcome was cold, almost standoffish and the service was perfunctory with little attempt to please the customer. The food was average. The pasta special with carciofi was too spicy for my taste, and the artichokes were stringy. The fettucine alla Romana (with chicken livers in tomato sauce) was nice, though the livers were overcooked. The abbachio cacciatore (lamb) was greasy. The bocconcini di vitale (veal with artichokes) was very good. The fritti vegetale had a heavy coating and were oily. The poached pear dessert was excellent, but the dolce ebraio (warm ricotta pie with chocolate sauce) was bland . As we left the restaurant the maitre d' didn't even look at us or thank us. They seemed not to particularly welcome tourists.
