We ate here late one night on a recommendation from our hotel. It was busy, but we were seated right away. The patrons were a mix of tourists and locals. They had a wide variety of pastas, pizzas, and main courses. The staff was very friendly and spoke enough English that we could order with ease. We had some pasta and an appetizer. It was all delicious and very reasonably priced.

We came by the place by chance while walking through the alleys of Rome. After 16 days in europe my husband and I were quite tired of eating pasta at touristy places and had almost vowed not to eat any more pasta. However, this restaurant was a pleasant change. The place was bustling with activity, with locals and regulars who ate here. The interiors are very nice and homely. The menu has huge variety, even vegetarian food. Inspite of the huge rush, the waiter was very polite and found a two seater place for us. The food was very tasty and when it came to the desserts, the waiter took us to the place where the desserts were kept so that we could choose as he could not find the menu :) Overall a very good experience. Too bad we found it on our last day in Rome.

We wanted a restaurant where locals ate and our B&B recommended Gioia Mia. It is a fun little place and, other than ourselves, no one else spoke English. The food were really quite delicious and the house red wine was decent. The prices for the food and the wine were very reasonable. Unfortunately our waiter (an older gentleman) was a bit surly, although the other waiters, especially the younger ones, were polite and friendly. The atmosphere was jovial, all Italian patrons. The bread was pretty bad and we got charged 3 euros for it. On top on that bread and cover charge, we were charged at least a 10% tip. The bill was handwritten and so, was hard to decipher. We left happy with the food itself but feeling like we got a bit taken advantage of because we were tourists. It would not surprise us if the local patrons had not been billed the extra charges. So, go for the food and atmosphere but be prepared to pay an extra 15% or so.

This restaurant, near the Spanish Steps is a real find, and if we had discovered it earlier, we would not have eaten anywhere else! It is a typical non touristy Italian restaurant with a large and varied menu of home cooked dishes. Don't be put of by the look of it from the outside, as once you enter through the door you will love it - buzzy and fun. I had champagne risotto and my husband ordered a liver dish followed by ice cream covered in coffee liquer - all delicious! The prices were amazingly reasonable too.

It’s a tipical Italian non tourist restaurant. They have very few wine letter, the house wine is just average, but the atmosphere, the food compensate.

It was a very good surprise and a very good experience.

Ahh.. I have some complains about the bread, the pasta and the pizza were very good, but the bread they serve as starter was not good

But I recommend.
