Apparently is Jamie Oliver's favourite restaurant in Rome and it obviously inspired many of his recipes. Really terrific and not expensive at all. You will have to book.

As many restaurants in Rome, once the place has become famous the quality of food and service has gone down. It used to be a great restaurant but it still remains a valid option to have some good Roman food, especially when the weather is nice and it is possible to sit outdoor. Prices are slightly higher than other similar restaurants in the surroundings but it is normal as Maccheroni has has a fancier client base (Michelle Obama and other celebrities have been clients).

We were very disappointed with our recent meal at Maccheroni. We booked the restaurant for our Saturday night evening in Rome and did not expect the meal of three courses and coffee to be over in less than an hour!. On being seated we were given the menu but not the wine list. While we ordered wine, we were given tumblers to drink from although other tables had wine glasses. No time for an aperitif while perusing the menu and absorbing the atmosphere. Starters arrived within minutes of ordering. My husbands main course arrived before he was halfway though his starter
and was taken back. We ordered a fruit pie for dessert to be told that all pies were gone - at 8.30!. My husbands ice-cream was served with his coffee although he had asked for the coffee to be served afterwards. The food is of reasonable quality and good value. My ravioli stuffed with ricotta and courgette flowers was very good but my husbands fettucini with porcini was
ordinary as were the other dishes.
