“Great typical food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2014 via mobile

You should try the pasta alla carbonara and you'll suddenly decide you found a great spot in Rome, far from the laud of the city in a quite place where to enjoy amazing roman food in it's original way but sometime revised in a more contemporary one without betraying the recipe!
Relaxing and lovely!

“Wonderful food away from the crowd”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2013

It's worth to take the metro and stop at Garbatella for an evening walk in this characteristic, though relatively modern area. You can then stop in this restaurant (found after asking to someone clearly living there, telling us it was the best, but that all restaurants in the area were good!). You can have dishes typical from Rome: I had a wonderful soup (Vignarola), the others pasta or meat dishes that were really appreciated. A bit on the expensive side, perhaps, but worth it.

“A place (and a neighboorhood) to discover”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

The Ristoro degli angeli is tucked away in a corner of the Garbatella district, which is a remarkable example of 1920s/30s architectural eclecticism. Ignore the ugly blocks built in the 1960s and go for the small piazza Bartolomeo Romano, where the Palladium theater has reopened, and where the Ristoro is located in a former shop under a small arcade. The decor is nice - quotations from old trattoria-style, bits of trendy design, images and books on the origins of the Garbatella district - and the place quite small, so it can become a bit loud (all the better if you arrive early, this is a place for locals and the Romans dine late). The menu itself is a mix of innovation and of classics revisited, so you can go from a really fresh tuna tartare to a pasta cacio e pepe with a glassa of parmesan, perch filets in a light curry and good vegetarian options. The wine list is okay, the usual Italian glories together with some small producers, and prices decent. The owners run the place competently and friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and informal. Definitely a good option if you want to escape the old center with its tourist traps.

“you need to try it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

vey nice place. the environment is much familiar. the personnel and the staff are nice and speak english. the furnitures are original from a 40s-50s house. the room is not that big and it helps to feel more as at friends or relatives home. the menu is not long but you can find meat, fish and vegetarian. the quality of the food is good, it is tasty and some dishes are really really good. prices are a bit high but are worth the experience.

“Somewhat angelic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2012

Very pleasant and cozy location (maybe an old shop-corner), warm and welcoming. Nicely furnished with some of the original shelves and old tables and chairs, this restaurant has a special atmosphere. The chef presents, beside appetizers, openers and good wines, both traditional and revisited Italian dishes. I have tasted fried anchovies: a balanced miracle between fried fish and lightness! The main course that I ordered was “Ravioli con ripieno di baccalà”, a kind of noodles fulfilled with a minced stockfish, simply excellent
Very good sweets, cakes and liquors. The prices suite the quality.
