Description: Just off the heaving via del Corso you will find an outpost of civility and authentic Roman feeling in Al Vantaggio. Founded in 1920, this traditional eaterie was originally a tavern for carriage drivers, but now has a much more comfortable ambience half-paneled walls, 17th century style frescoes, white tablecloths, artfully folded napkins, air conditioning. Run by a pair of brothers who grew up with this restaurant and are dedicated to it, Al Vantaggio is a relaxing and elegant place to enjoy a true Roman kitchen with a few Calabrian twists. Dishes include a rather spectacular spaghetti con frutti di mare, rich oxtail stew, and home made tiramis. Italian wines complete the picture.

Our tour guide recommended a different restaurant, but unfortunately, it was closed for vacation. We walked a bit and found this restaurant. It was busy and prices were decent but that's where it ended. Service was poor, the bruschetta was good, the house wine ok, but the meal was not good. My boyfriend ordered spaghetti with olive oil and garlic. It was decent, but nothing special. I ordered the risotto with scampi cream sauce. VERY disappointing! The risotto was not fully cooked, there was no scampi in the cream sauce, the 1/2 piece of scampi topping was silly, and it tasted like the cream sauce was made from melted Velveeta/Cheez Whiz and cheddar. NOT good. I would not recommend this restaurant at all.

Excellent service reasonable prices, ok food. Had to wait long time for food and check but not like other restaurants, customer service was excellent.

The interior of this restaurant is plush, traditional and appealing - the seating outside (in a side street off the main drag) is comfortable and shaded. The five of us ordered a selection of pasta and pizzas and we were largely satisfied with what we received... Howver, the spaghetti with seafood was disappointing as the "seafood" comprised a single prawn and half a dozen tired mussels and clams; the caprese was devoid of basil and the drinks were (as is often the case in Rome) horribly over-proced.

We wanted to have a quick lunch on our last day in Rome and our hotel staff recommended this restaurant. I am really glad we didn't go here for dinner as it was distinctly mediocre. Apparently the 2 pizzas were good but I had caprese which is mozzarella cheese, tomato and basil and there was one basil leaf!! Just cheese and tomato then! Service was slow and no atmosphere at all. I would have given a worse rating but the pizzas saved it, apparently!

That was a realy terrible expirience. I ordered pasta carbonara and found a big piece of plastic in it. Waitress took that thing in a hand and went out without any word. I was really shocked. But that was just a beginning of a thriller. DONT GO THERE!!!
