We decided to try the local hop on hop off bus to save a few euro.. sadly it was a waste of money.. ok if you just want to use it to get from a to b and are in no hurry.. but no good at all if you actually want to learn about what you are seeing.. the headphone jacks didn't work on most of the busses and when they did the information given didn't always match what you were passing.. very disappointing ..

Stay away from this travel mean! We bought the ticket and used it once only. The queue is very long to get on a coach. we were waiting for the third coach to be able to get on. The stops are limited and not even close to tourist attractions. Service on bus is awful. Windows are full of dust and cannot see anything outside. Not what we expect from sightseeing coach. We used the service in July which is summer. There is no air con. Couple of tiny windows not enough to get fresh air in the coach making it very stuffy like sitting in an oven. Audio tour is not working.

Just awful. Rude, lazy driver did skipped many stops, especially where there were handicapped customers waiting. Tour guide was extremely rude to many passengers. Almost no good guidance on the audio. I have taken many of these buses over the years and this is by far the worst ever. At least they didn't crash the bus, but everything else was poor

Contrary to other reviews, we found the buses seemed to run pretty much to the suggested frequency - but that's the end of the good bits about this tourbus.

Faulty audio, and what there was, was nothing special

Ripped off by the ticket seller who claimed the tickets we wanted existed

Didn't really cover all of the city, and stops weren't always near to the attractions

Have to change buses at Termini, which means you may not be able to secure seats together, or upstairs

I'm not sure any of the other operators are any different though...

We got a taxi from Trastevere to Termini when leaving Rome and thought it did pretty as much as well as the bus tour....

Considering you're going to one of the busiest tourist cities you'd think that all the companies would have their acts together. This was clearly not the case for 110 Open. We bought the 72 hour combined ticket for the 110 Open and the Archeobus, but what the person selling the tickets didn't mention was that the Archeobus only runs Friday-Sunday. Which was ridiculous considering we bought the tickets on the Monday, intending to use them until the Wednesday.

The second issue was the old, outdated bus we were initially on. Not only did the sound system keep turning off, the staff member on the bus seemed to turn the blame back to us. Eventually we changed buses, but they were not much better. The front viewing window blocked the first 2 rows of chairs from receiving any breeze, due to the glass wrapping around past these rows. Which was uncomfortable to say the least, considering it was at least 35 degrees.

The other main issue was the lack of organisation at bus stops. We waited over 45 minutes to hop on a bus. During this time period only 2 buses turned up. For a company who advertises that buses arrive between 10 and 15 minutes, this was ridiculous. As there was no organisation, the people who turned up to the stop 5 minutes before the bus arrived pushed their way to the front and people (like us) who had been waiting for 30+ minutes missed the first bus that arrived. When we asked the staff member at the stop, he simply yelled 'What am I supposed to do?'. I don't know buddy, maybe direct people to form an orderly line along the wall, to ensure everyone gets a fair turn, and other people are still able to use the footpath.

All in all this was an extremely expensive waste of time. Would not recommend this to anyone.
