“Bad service, worse food”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

We had visited this restaurant's NY location (which has closed), had a good meal, and thought we'd try the original in Rome. It was our last night in Rome and our worst meal during a two week trip to Italy. Waiters were surly and unattentive, which would not have been that bad, if the food had been great. I had the veal and it was reminiscent of the sole of an old shoe. My advice would be to try smaller restaurants that are off the beaten track. After two weeks of great eating, Sora Lella was a terrible ending to a spectacular culinary experience.

“Great classic restaurant, lots of charm, friendliness, and great menu”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

The quintessential restaurant in Rome. The food was terrific, the waiters very warm and attentive, and the pasta just perfect. There is a good reason you'll always find locals and travelers in this age old Rome restaurant. Lovely.

“Great food.”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

Great food but staff was not as warm and friendly as some other restaurants we went to during our stay in Rome. Tables were pretty close together. We had the tasting menu with wine which turned out to be much more food than we could eat. Our suggestion would be to share the tasting menu. However we got to taste a great variety of excellent Italian food so it was worth it in the end. On the expensive side but would go back because of the excellent food.

“Very Authentic”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Our last night in Rome our hotel made us reservations at Sora Lella. Boy were we glad! The place is small and has a great authentic feel. The food was amazing. Definitely try Momma's Meatballs and the Oxtail. The Tiramisu was probably the best dessert I've ever had!! The owner spoke to us and made our experience complete. Great family values. We'll be back one day for sure.

“Great quaint restuarant”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

We went here after arrving late in Rome on a Sunday and not expecting anywhere to be open.
It was open and we weren't the last people to arrive either.
Proper family run restaurant that has been running since 1946 - with a some menu items remaining from the earliest days.
The famous meatballs were spectacular, but so was everything else we ate as well.
