“The antipasti rules”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012

Our first experience at Orso 80 was 17 years ago. On this our latest trip to Rome, we felt we had to seek it out and try it again. As it turns out, our apartment was almost right around the corner and my memory, shaded as it was by the intervening 17 years led us unerringly back to their door.

This time we didn't even need to see the menu. We simply asked our waiter if they still served their "world famous antipasto table".

Having experienced the joys of their antipasti before, we were smart enough not to order a follow up dish. I lost count of the number of plates our waiter bore to our table, but they numbered close to twenty. With 2 light eating women at the table, the antipasti was more than enough food for us all. A couple of bottles of wine and our evening was complete.

A short stroll through the warm late summer evening to the Piazza Navona for some gelatto made for a perfect end to our Roman Holiday.

“Oh dear....”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

We stayed on the same road as this place, so we were regular eaters in the area.....and this came in joint bottom of the heap. Expensive for so-so food, with a smug waiter. For a nicer experience go to the Old Bear a few yards away- the food is better, the staff are lovely , although its not as 'pretty'. For really great food st a similar price range I can recommend Taverna Ripetta about 300 yards away

“Lots of Locals”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2012

The food was good, not extraordinay. Lots of locals eating, including a lot of priests. I liked the Old Bear, around the corner, better.

We went to eat as much as we can as always in il Orso. The antipasti it keep coming like crazy and the quality is simply excellent. I loved the atmosphere and the second dishes. The presentation of the pasta dishes is outstanding and quite succulent. Great prices too.

“Must try - steak with green peppercorn sauce”

This was a great place. We sat outside and it was on a back road that had very low traffic. Service was good too.
