This is a great location with easy walks to many popular Rome sites and the Metro line. Jean Louis was very kind, friendly, and helpful. I would highly recommend Casa Virgilio in Monti.
This was a fantastic find.
The previous reviews were the reason we chose it because everyone said how helpful Jean-louis was and although we did not meet in person because he was out of the country, he ensured we had all the information we required and kept in contact throughout our stay.
The apartment had everything you needed and the lovely Odette greeted us and ensured we settled in.
We were provided with a daily continental breakfast, which was delicious and set us up for the day.
There are plenty of supermarkets and cafes close by and everything is within walking distance, apart from the Vatican.
We did a day on the hop on bus, which helped to orientate us to the city.
Rome is a beautiful city, holding so much history and beautiful monuments.
The flat is conveniently located near to Cavour underground station, the bus terminus at the railway station and a taxi rank at Santa Maria Maggiore. Rome is not big tho' and if you are fit you can walk to many of the attractions. The Colosseum is close by, so we were able to do a proper tour and then go back a few times to take in the atmosphere. The flat is in the Monti area but on a quiet side street - away from the late-night bustle of cafes and bars The small courtyard and adjacent conservatoire style living room is a lovely feature as you have an outside and semi-outside place to relax surrounded by greenery. I was staying with my elderly mum so the fact that the flat is on the ground level, with no steps was very helpful. The owner Jean Louis was very helpful with directions, suggestions of places to eat and provided a lovely breakfast. Don't miss the church of Santa Prassede, which is very close by. It's on a smaller scale to some of the other churches you will visit in Rome, but this made it feel more intimate and 'real' - and the mosaics were beautiful.
We had a wonderful stay in Rome. The location was perfect with everything in walking distance. Safe area with plenty of great restaurants, stores, historical sites and just a short walk to the train station. The owners were exceptional! Very welcoming and went above and beyond to help us have a great vacation. The apartments were very clean, comfortable and each morning we had a terrific breakfast waiting for us. We highly recommend this rental to everyone wanting to enjoy time in the eternal city. It was perfect!
wonderful location, friendly owners and always available, perfect to enjoy Rome but in an international context.
This delightful apartment is the perfect base for exploring Rome. Owner Jean Louis excels at unobtrusive hospitality, both in the welcome which he, and his assistant Odette provide, and the thoughtfulness with which he's equipped and decorated the apartment. There's everything we needed to relax and refresh after a hard day's tourist activity, and this is certainly somewhere we'd come back to again.
The apartment's location makes arrival easy - it's just a 5 minute walk from Termini rail station (where the 'Leonardo Express' train from Fiumicino airport terminates). It's an even shorter walk from Cavour metro. In any case most of Rome's major sights are a walkable distance, with the Colosseum very close by.
Jean Louis provided us with a great breakfast each morning which set us up for the day, and a treat of some delicious pannetone type seasonal cake! He got the balance between giving advice and leaving us to our own devices just right, and gave some helpful tips on things we wouldn't have know, for example unusual things to see, and how best to get around. Jean Louis is also admirably unflappable in a crisis, and calmly sorted out a problem we'd brought upon ourselves by accidentally changing the code to the small safe which is provided, and separating ourselves from our passports!
The apartment has some delightful decor, with art from many parts of the world, and a patio/atrium with an indoor and outdoor section, where we had breakfast. The apartment was warm and cozy, with excellent central heating which was welcome as the December days were sunny but cold. There are also aircon units in the rooms, which I imagine are just as important for summer!
A lovely apartment and host - I hope we'll have the chance to return
The reviews for this delightful place were so good and we were not disappointed. Walking from the train terminal quite late at night was easy and the welcome from Jean Louis was friendly and kind with wine and nibbles to help us relax on arrival. It is on a quite road and it was extremely quiet. We enjoyed the CD player, breakfasts and the large supermarket very close by. Highlights of the trip were 'free bike tours' booked online beforehand - great for all ages and kept our 14 year old amused for 4 hours. Rome was warm and it was a lovely half term get away for us all. Would recommend to all
