“good food, service and price for such a popular tourist area”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

We have used this restaurant for serveral years. The cold and hot dishes are varied and good value for money. You can create your meal to your taste and wallet from a pizza to a full blown three/four course meal with wiine. Italian and international customers of all ages and including families, business people and tourists. Staff are friendly and helpfull without the over the top stereo type "Italian waiter" routine in too many places catering for overseas visitors. Wine list is comprehensive and a reasonable price range for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is tucked behind the Spannish steps and used to be indicated by its proximity to the old American Express offices. There is indoor and outside seating. If you want to sit outside in the summer either book ahead or arrive early. Recommended to cater for all budgets and ages. Iside is warm and comfortable in the cold wet winter days. Decor is of the "rustic" variety.

“Very good food and service for a great price in the tourist zone”
Reviewed January 24, 2014

I lived in Rome many years ago in this area so I was hesitant to eat here without knowing if it was a tourist trap. I was pleasantly surprised to find very good food at a great price with good service. Locals and tourist both eat here. If you eat at 8pm or later you may want to make reservations because the restaurant does fill up.

“Good food near Spanish steps”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

We have visited the Restaurant Alla Rampa the first time in 2007 and since that time we have during our yearly Rome visit at least one dinner or lunch. It is located off the Spanish Steps and looks like a traditional Italian trattoria. We always have eaten very good there. The food is traditional and great, the waiters are friendly. You can sit outside or inside. We sat outside and went inside for taking the antipasti/buffet. It is a good restaurant where locals and tourists mix up and it is worth its price.

“Disappointing lunch”
Reviewed January 6, 2014 via mobile

As is usual with Italian service it was slow, but the wait here was longer than usual. We ordered a fried zucchini flower that was dripping oil. The pasta was not good either. One of the pasta dishes was overcooked and the taste of the pesto was unusual. There are far better options than this in Rome. It was a disappointment.

“Not as good as we remembered!”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

We ate at this restaurant on New Years Eve 2003 before my husband proposed to me on the Spanish Steps! We had an amazing meal in 2003 so on the 10 year anniversary on my husbands' marriage proposal, I booked a surprise trip back to Rome and decided that we would again eat at Alla Rampa - what a mistake that was!! The waiter was extremely dismissive and unfriendly, the menu over-priced and the service poor. My husband's starter of pasta with lamb had to be sent back due to the amount of animal bone in it. This put our order out of sync so I had finished my main course by the time my husband's replacement starter arrived. We had high expectations which most certainly were not met and it was the most expensive meal we had in Rome!
