“Avoid this restaurant!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

Four of us were enticed in with the promise of great food and a free glass of champagne. Service was slow and waiter scarcely listened to our order. Bruschetta was rock hard and tasteless. Sea bream priced at 100g for 6 euros is a complete scam. A 'small' portion was requested but an enormous plate of fish arrived. When the bill arrived, they had charged 56 euros! Wine was sold by glass only. Each glass cost 10 euros!
Whilst we were there, two diners returned one of their dishes because they were unhappy with the quality. The head waiter publicly ridiculed them. They stuck to their guns but it must have been very uncomfortable for them.
I would suggest that you stay away from this restaurant. There are plenty of others serving good food at reasonable prices.

“Stay clear”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2013

Everyone is right, stay clear, had 2 drinks and some olives cost €33 (€3 service) we left €30 and the waiter chased us down the street and called over he police, he was pushing my boyfriend which infuriated both of us. They are all scam artists around the tourist areas

“Very good food and great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

This was our first meal in Rome and although it was late and the kitchen was about to close we received very good service. The food was very good and the out door setting was charming.

“Keep walking”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013 via mobile

My boyfriend and I were approached by one of the staff of al Presidente as we were walkin down the cobble stoned street doing a bit of sight seeing. We were feeling a bit peckish and the waiter sold it to us saying it would be no problem to share a dish. We were seated inside where the waiter actually threw the menus down in front of us. We went ahead anyway and ordered a tagliatelle pesto. When the food came out, it was a child's portion size, probably done on purpose because we weren't hungry enough for a dish each. The pasta was spaghetti not tagliatelle and we were charged 13euro for it. The waiter was so rude and ignorant, we just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. Our total bill was 18 euro, for the pasta dish, a small bottle of water and a basket of stale bread. We were absolutely sickened because when we left and walked further down the street we came across an array of restaurants serving 2 courses and a half bottle of wine for 12 euro. Al Presidente sucks you in and doesn't follow up with the intended promise of good food and service. Avoid this place like plage - Average food, terrible service and HORRIFIC prices! Keep walking and you'll find dozens of places in the same area with better service, food and prices.

“Stay Away at all costs”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2013 via mobile

Unfortunately we had not read any reviews on this place, and we just popped in for a quick bite. The food was at best OK. However these guys are up there as the most unprofessional, arrogant and slow service waiters I have come across anywhere. Very keen to spruik you in to the place, and then we sat there for 15 minutes waiting to be served, with a restaurant that was 20% full. Then gave us attitude and mumbled something when we tried to get their attention. Last but not least they would not close off the account before asking 'what about something for me?' A tip, he must be joking! Alas he was not. Anyway you get the idea, very average food, incredibly overpriced, keep walking when they approach you. You will do better at a McDonald's.
