Description: In order to write the story of this cafe we should get to meet every person who has gone to it, or most of them. Certainly each one of them would have a bit of story kept in the casket of their memories. Memories of unforgettable moment, but above all of a bit of history which has helped our Country to be born again. It was the Sixties and our bar proudly represented the meeting place of the " By nigth " Rome, of the " Dolce vita " (Sweet life), the place where riotous loves were born, where never revealed agreements were signed, were everything was familiar ... This was Harry's Bar. In the hearts of the ones who patronenized it, it never died, despite the hard times. Harry's Bar Rome was born in 1959, took its name only in 1962 but the cafe existed since 1918. It was the Golden Gate Confectioner's, quoted in many books. At the end of the Twenties it became part of the De Gasperis' family until 1958, the very year it cake to be American Bar Restaurant. Today the cafe shines in its Boisseirie, and in its plasters, more then 35 years old, of late renovated, the same feel you got in those years. He who doesn't know Harry's Bar Rome, has now good reason to go and see it. Legendary Harry's Bar is the unique place that evokes tbc "Dolce Vita' as if it were a clip from the film, creating a vivid flashback to the golden era of the Via Veneto, when Frank Sinatra sang at the piano and all the stars made their appearance in this bar/restaurant full of glamour and style. As in the roaring sixties, you can still sip an aperitif, enjoy the live piano bar every evening and dive into tbc magic of the Via Veneto from the exclusive and fascinating Harry's Bar. The refined cuisine recalls the freshness of Mediterranean flavours based on prime ingredients. Tradition and fantasy inspire the elegant dishes of the menu, accompanied by the most prestigious labels and a high class service.

We just stopped in for a late evening drink. The bartender really knew how to make the classics and was fun to talk with as well. They put out a nice spread of nibbles at the bar, especially some little cookies. Yum.

This was my second time in Rome, the first time I visited was in Oct 2012 and everyone had said you have to go to Harrys Bar the food and cocktails are amazing, so on our first visit to Rome we did just that and it was so amazing that we decided to eat there the following night too.
We tried the Cote Du Boeuf for 2 and the sea bass for 2 both was absolutely amazing!
My partner decided to surprise me for Valentines Day this year and whisked me off to Rome and after our previous visit we decided we had to go to Harrys Bar again. So we ate there on Valentines night, from the moment you turn up the service is just superb. We sat outside as it was warm and they have the heaters on. We started with cocktails and nothing is too much they were happy to adapt cocktails to my liking and they are some of the best cocktails I have ever tasted! There was no rush, in some places on Valentines Day they want you in and out so they can give your table to someone else but this was not the case here, we could be there all night, if we had wanted.
We had foie gras, which was just out of this world. We wanted a little break between our starter and main and this was no problem, it felt the entire evening that nothing was too much, each person went above and beyond. We had the cote du boeuf for our main and it was cooked to perfection and was delicious. They handed all the ladies long stem roses, which I thought was a lovely touch and something they didn’t have to do. We were there for hours and I can’t find a single thing to complain about. It was an amazing evening I couldn’t have asked for more.
The following day we went to Piazza Navona as there was a little restaurant we visited the last time we were there but when we arrived it was not open and after such an amazing evening we decided to go back to Harrys Bar for lunch, they gave us the same table, again different members of staff but still the same friendliness and amazing service. We had problems with our flight as the weather back at home wasn’t great and again we ended up being there for hours, there was no rush, we weren’t made to feel like we had to leave. Once again the food and service were just amazing! I can't say enough about this place.
I appreciate some people might find this restaurant expensive however the overall meal etc. is absolutely worth it. If you go to Rome you have to visit this amazing place. To go somewhere 4 times across 16 months and every visit being better than the last is a rarity with restaurants but these guys manage to do it.

OK so it's not cheap but what you get is superb friendly service, good food, elegant comfortable surroundings and entertainment from a piano player and female singer. We spent 3 hours there one night for our dinner and loved it so much we went back the next night. The cost of the food is no surprise as the menus are displayed outside before you go in so you know what you are paying. What you don't know is how good the experience is going to be until you step inside. Dined at the Mirabelle the previous evening and Harry's beat it hands down. When in Rome YOU MUST GO!!!

My husband and I dined at Harry's Bar when we stayed at a nearby hotel. It was a very pleasant experience; velvet soft furnishing and chandeliers, your main course presented from under a silver cloche. The starters were more enjoyable than the main course, but even then, they were nice enough.

I am in Rome frequently for business and year after year and visit after visit, Harry's is always predictably good. Excellent service, good food and just a generally great place for an evening. The bar is small but good, ask for Billy he's been working the bar for years. The food is quite good and so is the service, then stick around for the fun and enjoyable sing-along piano bar in the evening. From locals, to an occasional Cardinal to an Ambassador; they are all there having a great evening. If you are staying at the Marriott this place is directly across the street.
