“Very good location and staff”
Reviewed August 10, 2012 via mobile

The location was very good yet very quiet. Breakfast was impressive, served with nice porcelain and the food was even better than some of the 4 and 5 stars we had. The decor was same as the photos on the website. The way they place the toiletries was fun but yet I found it a bit unhygiene as they were not covered nor contained. The staff was helpful and prompt to act. The only drawback was that the room I stayed at, tutta tonda was too dark.

We have been to Rome countless times and finally have found a gem.It has a great position close to the Spanish Steps and it all that makes it special- friendly staff, cleanliness and an ambience which makes it very special in Rome.
Breakfast served in your room is delightful.
We cannot wait to return for our next visit in July 2012

We stayed in a "gold theme" room at Suite Sistina for 2 nights. I suspect this is one of the cheaper rooms (we paid a special discounted rate) as it is right next to the reception. There is also no bathtub but there was a fantastic shower with huge showerhead, side jets and a disco ball.

The room itself was large and for the most part very comfortable. Great king size bed, lovely soft throw and pillows, tv, sound system, separate toilet and dressing room/amenity room. Only minor complaints would have been the "tap" for the sink which was basically a round hole you had to stick your fingers into meaning that you either got soap or whatever else stuck inside it (i.e. not very hygienic or easy to operate).

The location was absolutely perfect and allowed us to walk everywhere.

Service is where things start to fall down... generally everyone was very friendly and helpful. However, there were a few issues... first, as I mentioned our room was right next to reception and in the morning a lady posted at the reception spoke very loudly on the telephone from around 8am onwards even though she knew we were not waking up until 9.30am (as that was our chosen breakfast time). On the first day breakfast didn't arrive at all and we had to enquire about it. It then arrived at 10am and was stone cold (cold scrambled eggs and bacon - not nice!). There were also bits missing from the breakfast but they did eventually arrive after we requested them again. To be fair, on the second day the breakfast arrived on the dot and was warm. The reception lady also kept her voice down but probably because we left a note politely asking her to do so.

On the subject of breakfast, perhaps another minor complaint is how bland the breakfast options are. The menu reads more like a travelodge menu then a boutique hotel (toast, cold meats, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon etc). Something a little bit more luxury like smoked salmon or poached egges wouldn't hurt...

The other issue or more of a suggestion I have for this hotel is to be more selective with their restaurant recommendations. We emailed the hotel asking them to recommend a few places and to make bookings for us. We had done similar with other hotels in Italy and have found ourselves eating at wonderful local places we would have never found ourselves. However, both restaurants that were recommended by Suite Sistine (and to be fair they recommended around 8 and we picked 2) were disappointing. Especially disappointing was a restaurant they recommended on our second night which was a special occasion so it was a pricey place but ended up being completely full of tourists and with inedible food. I would think that for a boutique hotel they should be recommending hidden gems not expensive tourist traps.

So overall I have very mixed feelings about this hotel. I loved the room and the quirky decor but thought the personal touch was missing and even when they tried to be personal it failed. This could be an amazing place which just a few little adjustments...

I stayed here with my girlfriend for a long weekend to celebrate her 21st birthday.
We loved the hotel and everything about it!
Great location for all sights in Rome!

I was even able to request a custom message on the shower door, which the girlfriend loved!

Major props to J and the other staff at Suite Sistina!

Ideally located in Rome, bedroom absolutely beautiful- Rooms are design but very comfortable and clean. Breakfast gorgeous and delicious, every small details in the bathroom are so appreciated. Always the same dilema, such a big world to discover but this place is irresistable.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights recently and had a wonderful time. It was my birthday and upon entering the room was greeted by balloons and a happy birthday message, which was a lovely touch. The room we stayed in was very cool; circular bed, huge bath, rain shower and lots of cool design features like weird taps and lights. The staff at the hotel were so helpful and friendly I have never been made to feel so welcome at any other hotel I have stayed at. The location of the hotel is fab, close to the sights and shops. There is no lift in the hotel and as the rooms are quite close to each other you do hear some noise from people walking up and down the stairs. But this wasn't a big deal to us as the good things about the hotel made up for it. I'd be happy to stay at this hotel again; it was a special birthday surprise that was made even better by a lovely hotel and its staff.

Room Tip: The rooms are themed and you get asked before you arrive at the hotel to tell them what you like so...
