“Best tour of the Vatican”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2014

Our group, four adults and one tween, booked the In-depth experience on a recent trip to Italy. Although the adults had been to the Vatican before, we were all very pleased and educated on this tour. Our guide was Maurizio, who is very knowledgable in art history and Vatican history. First of all, it was nice that Maurizio was waiting for us at our meeting spot rather than us waiting on our guide (which happened with other tours provided by other companies). Skipping the line in very busy August was worth it's weight in gold. Our group was small making it easier to maintain the group and get the information on a more personal basis. Maurizio was able to pass on invaluable information about the art and the Vatican yet make it engaging and current. He was very helpful and personable with our group, assisting with finding facilities and giving helpful tips. This tour, while lengthy, was the best tour we booked out of several in Rome. If we are ever able to use this company again, we will not hesitate to do so.

“Luca De Angelis tour guide”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2014

Luca, through his excellent communication skills and passionate devotion to art, created a magnificent tour of the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican. The early start avoided most of the inevitable queues and we had plenty of time in the Sistine Chapel privately to absorb the atmosphere. Luca's educated insights provided plenty of knowledge and this knowledge was delivered in a way that both the expert and the layman could both enjoy the tour. Definite recommend with Luca.

“Three Tours”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2014

I did three tours with Through Eternity while in Rome: Vatican City (in depth), Colosseum/Roman Forum (in depth), and Rome at Twilight. Each tour was very well done and extremely interesting. All guides were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Group sizes were capped at 12 which adds to the quality in my opinion. These tours definitely added to the experience of Rome and taught me a lot about the city. I would definitely recommend each of these three tours.

“Grazie, Wonderful Early Morning Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2014

We took the early morning (7:30 AM) Vatican, Sistine Chapel, St. Peters Tour to gain early admission to the Sistine Chapel before the doors open to the general public. We are glad we did.

There were 13 people for this tour on Tuesday morning and we were divided into two groups, ours had 6 and was led by Cinzia, an Art Historian. We really liked Cinzia, she had a great sense of humour, incredible knowledge, and the skills to keep us focused and moving. Prior to entering the Museum they hand out headsets so you can hear your guide. We would recommend taking your own earbuds if you have them to plug into the receiver as you might find them more comfortable. The tour lasted for five and half hours which included a thirty minute break part way through to grab a coffee, quick snack, or to use the restroom. Do bring some water with you. Other than this break there is no opportunity to get liquids.

Our morning started with quickly walking through the largely vacant halls of the Vatican Museum on our way to the Sistine Chapel. Imagine the surreal experience of your small group hustling down the empty hall of the Maps Room. Later, this would provide a stark contrast to the sea of humanity that would be pulsating through the Museum corridors in only a couple of hours.

The Sistine Chapel is amazing and there is no way to really describe it in words. You have to experience it for yourself. We spent between 20 and 30 minutes staring up in awe at the wonderful frescos. There were perhaps 80 other people in the room as other tour groups also have early morning access. Yet, 80 people is nothing compared to the scene you will find later in the morning. There was space to wander around comfortably, or sit on the benches along the outside walls, and quietly inhale the wonderful history on display before us.

Then it was off to visit the rest of the Museum covered by the tour. The Pinacoteca rooms were among my personal favorites, the tapestries and paintings are not only beautiful, it seems many of the larger tour groups don’t seem to include them, so you’re not fighting to get through endless throngs of 15 – 30 people being led around in masse. Which is what you find by the time you get to the beautiful Raphael Rooms. The doors have now been open to general public for a while and the Museum has begun to resemble rush hour on the subway of any large city in the world.

Towards the end of our Museum time we once again passed through the Sistine Chapel prior to making our way into St. Peters. The scene had changed dramatically. Now this space was a teeming beehive of individuals and tour groups. A firm reminder of why we picked the early tour.

St. Peters is huge. It can swallow masses of people with ease. Other than trying to get close to Michelangelo’s Pieta, it never really felt anywhere near as crowded as the Museum had become. We spent additional time wandering around and taking it all in after the tour ended. We also went down to the tombs and climbed to the top of the dome which we would both recommend.

We are glad we chose Through Eternity and can easily recommend them to others. Our pre-booking email inquiries were all handled professionally and efficiently. Grazie.

“Vatican Museum and St. Peter's Basilica Tour with Wonderful Guide Cinzia!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2014

We were a group of four adults and had a wonderful guide Cinzia! She was very friendly, always smiling, accommodating, and passionate! The entire time, we felt like walking around with a good friend. We highly recommend her!

We took the five-hour Vatican Museum + St. Peter's Basilica tour with early-admission. Early-admission meant we were allowed to enter the museum one hour before it opened to the public and Cinzia took us right to the Sistine Chapel before the crowd arrived. She then walked us back to the starting point of the museum and we started the museum tour. We then took a nice break at the museum's cafe before starting the tour at the basilica.

We enjoyed our tour very much and highly recommend Cinzia as a guide and Thru Eternity!
