“Informational tours”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We used them for our tour of the Colosseum and the Vatican. I preferred the Vatican tour. It was a 5 hour tour and we went into the Sistine Chapel at 8am so there was no one there and that was fantastic. Later in the day we went back through and there were unbearable herds of people. It was also great to skip the lines. We went right in. My kids were bored on the Pallantine Hill and Forum parts of the tour. There was a lot of Archeology so it was a bit too much information for them especially since we had already been to Pompeii and the ruins there are so much more well preserved. We liked the colosseum but I don't know that it was worth it to pay for the underground tour. I think this tour group is oriented more to the serious traveler and it was heavy with information. That would be great if that is what you were looking for. They didn't really relate well to the kids but they did try. They were just not able to hold their interest which meant we could not really pay attention either. Our kids were 17, 15 and 9. I would try to find a more family oriented tour if I did it again. I would definitely go for the guide for the Vatican. I would skip it for the Colosseum.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We appreciate your honest assessment of your experience while on your Vatican and Ancient City tours.

While we are pleased to hear you and your family enjoyed your Vatican tour we are extremely sorry to hear that your sons found the Ancient City tour to be too information heavy. In the event we have young children and young adults booked on our tours, we take great care in assigning a guide who works well with children as one can see from our many testimonials on Trip Advisor from other clients who have had great experiences with their children. Its important to us that even our youngest guests enjoy their tour and we strive to ensure they have a fun and enriching experience.

So that we can gain more information in regards to your experience and how we can improve our services, may we ask that you reach out to us directly at office@througheternity.com.

Sincerely,
The Customer Care Team

“Underground Tour of Rome Was a Cut Above”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

When I was planning my trip to Rome earlier this year, one of the first things that really caught my eye and got me intrigued was the idea of descending down through the ancient subterranean architectural layers that modern Rome sits upon. Through Eternity's "Underground Rome: Ancient and Medieval" tour did not disappoint.

Tour guide Gabriel Radle took us on a three-and-a-half-hour walking tour that began at the intriguing Basilica San Clemente (near the Colosseum), whose excavations probed deep enough to allow us to get a rough sense for what a first-century Roman street might have looked like. The tour didn't end until we were way over at the Santa Cecilia church in the Trastevere neighborhood. In between, we looked at places such as where Romans kept the animals prior to sending them down along underground tunnels en route to the Colosseum, and also the famous Circus Maximus, the ancient chariot racing stadium and mass entertainment complex.

Gabriel knew his stuff when it came to the history of Roman buildings and history of Rome in general. He kept the tour really well paced so that we stayed interested -- feeling neither too rushed nor too tuckered out. He was a great representative for the city and answered our questions amiably and thoughtfully.

This was my first tour with Through Eternity, and it certainly favorable inclined me toward doing more.

“Underground Rome: Ancient and Medieval AWESOME TOUR”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

Originally thought this was a catacomb tour but this was that and a lot more. Our teenagers got a fun educational tour.

Tom is an excellent guide - more of a historian than a guide. We got an entire history lesson in 3 hours. He was really passionate about every detail and just spoke on and on for the entire walk.

We visited places which are not frequented by busloads of tourists so we loved the privacy and secret finds.

Just wear really really comfortable shoes. SNEAKERS would be best.

Dear CotodeCazaBuE,

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your Underground Rome tour, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. Through Eternity dedicates a great deal of time and effort into finding guides who are not only experts in their fields but personable and zealous. Thomas truly embodies all of those characteristics and we will be sure to share your feedback with him. Thank you for pointing out the “off the beaten track” aspect of the tour, the sights that you saw are true gems of the city that unfortunately many people miss out on. We also recommend wearing a pair of walking shoes on Underground Rome as it covers a lot of ground, while visiting amazing sites you are also viewing different Roman neighborhoods.
Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to see you again in the future!

Sincerely,
The Customer Care Team

“Rome tour with Through Eternity Tours - Excellent and good value”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

We booked a private tour with Through Eternity Tours for our family. The tour was called “One Day in Rome for Cruise Passengers”.

All the arrangements were made on line from Australia before we left (with Jillian who was very helpful). Through Eternity Tours e-mailed clear information about the arrangements and what we would do. We paid for the tour in advance which just left the tickets to be paid for on the day.
When we arrived at Civitavecchia Port, our driver was there and waiting for us with a sign with our name. Good start to the day!!

His car was a very modern 7 seater so the drive to Rome (which took about 1 hour 15 minutes) was very comfortable. We left at about 7.30am (our choice to start early so we could get back to the ship earlier that afternoon and have some free time).

Our driver was in phone contact with our guide so when we arrived at the Colosseum she was there to meet us. Our guide’s name was Maria.

Maria had organised all our tickets so we didn’t have to stand in line. As an approved guide she also had front of line access for us.
The queue at the Colosseum was long but we got in straight away. Maria was very knowledgeable about the Colosseum and its history.

After that we went to the ancient Roman Forum. This part of the day was fairly exhausting and the sun was hot. It involved a lot of walking. We walked through all the main archaeological parts of Rome. Maria was lively and entertaining and clearly passionate about the area.

We had an early lunch at a lovely Italian restaurant then headed off to the Vatican. Front of line access here was well worth it. We saw the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and St Peters Basilica. Maria was fantastic and a wealth of knowledge. She also had good humour.
When we finished the queue to get into St Peters Basilica was enormous.

The organisation for the day was perfect and all went according to plan. Our driver met us at the end at a pre agreed place and drove us back to the ship. We let Rome just after 3.00pm and were back at the ship just before 4.00pm.

I can thoroughly recommend Through Eternity Tours and this particular tour. For a family of 5 it was much more economical way of touring Rome – the cost for a similar day from the cruise ship was a lot more.

Doing it via Through Eternity Tours also meant that we could do things in our own time, the car drive was much more comfortable and quicker than a bus and we had a private guide for our family the whole day.

Dear hamish2011,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us, we are beyond pleased to hear about your positive experience with Through Eternity. Our office works very hard to make the booking process as easy and flexible as possible for our clients. We love getting feedback on the organizational aspects of what we do. The One Day in Rome for Cruise Passengers from Civitavecchia tour captures the essence and the must see sights of the city without the stress and lines. Maria will be very happy to hear your kind words about her, she is passionate, personable, and professional which really shines in her tours. We dedicate a lot of time to finding wonderful people to work with and appreciate you pointing out the qualities we look for in guides. I am so glad that you and your family were able to experience Rome and wish you safe travels. If you find yourselves in Italy again we would love to show you more!

Sincerely,

“A fantastic afternoon with Through Eternity and Caravaggio”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

My friend and I both thoroughly enjoyed our Caravaggio tour with Caterina. She was excellent. Caterina explained a ton of information about the Caravaggio paintings we saw, and this totally enhanced our enjoyment of the incredible art. Caterina was very knowledgeable and super passionate. And Caterina's expertise is clearly not just limited to Caravaggio — or to art history. During our walks to the various sites, Caterina shared with us a wealth of information about Rome, food, other sites, etc. She was great all around, and we recommend Through Eternity tours (and Caterina) without hesitation.
