“Nice hotel but wrong location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2010

The hotel was nice and had lots of quirky features. All staff were lovely. We were offered a room upgrade for 10 Euros extra a night and was well worth it. We did not have a balconey and our view was to nothing special but we were only in our room to sleep so it wasnt an issue.
From the metro station the hotel was about a 20 minute walk. This might not seem very far but in the heat and everyday there and back it does tend to get on your nerves!! It is a good 30 mins to the Trevi Fountain.
If i were to go again i would stay in a hotel nearer to the Trevi Fountain or a metro station.... the Colleseum was 2/3 metro stops away.
The breakfast had a lot to be desired. I only eat cereal so i was OK but my husband was not impressed. All there was on offer was cereal, bread rolls, cake, dates, kiwi fruit, thin cheese and thin slices of ham. Only on our last day the toaster began to work.... a bit. The breakfast was not for the' British'
This review is probably sounding really bad but it was a lovely stay. The rooms were cleaned everyday, the beds were changed everyday. It was ony the location which was the main issue. I am fit and healthy but after sight seeing for hours you really dont want to walk all the distance back to your hotel... then it all again for something to eat.

The interior design of this hotel is bautiful with plenty of antique looking furniture, opulant drapes in gold and reminders of Rome's history, including statues of gladiators and legionnaires. However; all this was not backed up with the ambiance. The staff on the whole were not helpful and did not make us feel welcome. We were not greeted with friendly faces nor were we thanked for our stay or wished a safe onward journey, infact all that was said on us checking out was how much we owed for our upgrade and mini bar. In addition, we had two days of tepid showers. On this basis we would not recommend this hotel.

We found the hotel not up to a 4 star rating. The shower was great and the room adequate for our needs. Good job they have double glazing given the traffic noise. Our room was situated in the annexe which on first impressions was a bit disappointing but we got used to it, The breakfast which was basic continental is served on a pleasant rooftop terrace which I think is the only highlight of the hotel. Staff were friendly.

This is a 3-star hotel at best. It is located on a busy and noisy street with buses, trucks, and motorcycles passing 24 hours a day. Don't expected to have a good sleep at night. The rooms are small, even though we had upgraded. We still had to pay more to get a slightly bigger room. The hotel is on the outskirts of central Rome and relatively far from major attractions. This is very important if you want to take a short rest in the middle of your day.
The included breakfast was the bare minimum, the coffee seemed to be re-heated from the day or the night before!
The hotel staff were cold and indifferent.
With the same price, there are better hotel choices more centrally located for tourist attractions and restaurants.

Went on a trip for four days (3 girls, 18 years old). Hotel was great, just what we needed. Staff were friendly, spoke very good english and were happy to help. Room were clean with.... interesting decor and not too small, perfect for a place to crash after hours of walking around seeing the sights. The hotel was well situated- a shortish walk to the nearest metro and near enough to walk to many sites such as the spanish steps. Couldn't really fault this hotel with it's great breakfast which you ate in the rooftop garden with an amazing view. Hotel food was expensive but being so near the middle of rome with plenty of places to eat it wasn't a problem. I would definately recommend.

We have stayed in Romanico Palace for 3 days on beginning of our Italy tour. We didn't have car while staying in Rome, therefore we wanted to stay somewhere close to all attractions. We arrived by train from the airport and decided to walk to hotel. It took us about 20min, it would be faster if we knew the way. There is not many restaurants or anything else (its residential area) close by, but 20min away there is more things happening. Hotel staff was polite and helpful. Room was rather small but we didn't mind because we didn't spend much time in. Important thing is that it was clean. We were on the 2nd floor and our window was facing to another building which was like 2meters away so we couldn’t really open curtains, which was a bit claustrophobic. Breakfast was decent, nothing special but ok.

I am Italian and my boyfriend is from NY. We stayed in Rome 3 days at the hotel Romanico Palace.
The first 2 days were OK, even if the buffet breakfast offers bad and probably 1 or 2 days old pastries, the internet cost 5 euros per hour and once we bought 2 hours we discovered that in our room there was some problem with the wireless and as they did not even have the cable to connect the computer, we had to stay in the lobby to use it.
The 3rd day, while we were watching TV we started getting drops of water falling on us, so we called the room service, the guy came and said he would have checked upstairs and sent someone to change the blanket.
We waited 40 min, the water had stopped for a while but nobody had come nor called to follow up, so I called they said they were coming but after 2 hours, they were not there yet and the water had re-started leaking from the ceiling.
So we decided that it was better to go out, we got downstairs, in quite a bad mood and asked for an explanation. It turns out that they had not even checked what was the cause of the leak(I guess they already knew) as the ppl upstairs was taking a bath and they didn't want to disturb them, they said that it was probably due to the fact that the bath tub was too full(as if it was a normal thing), so we asked what they were going to do and they said "I DON'T KNOW" and they would give us an answer once we got back from dinner. Finally they changed our room .
I have traveled a lot and I have stayed even in cheap hotels in the Philippines but I have never got nor seen this way of working.
