Excellent base for seeing Rome. Rooms small but nicely furnished, bathrooms excellent. Whole hotel spotless. Breakfasts brilliant and hotel owners and staff very helpful and accommodating. Have no hesitation in recommending to anyone looking for a location which is within easy reach of most of the attractions the city has to offer. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Would definitely stay again.

Again we booked this hotel based on its good reviews. First impression when you enter is Wow what a lovely building, it has so much charactor with the old cage type lift etc, the place is immaculatly kept, the staff are attentive and friendly, always service was warm and with a smile, we were put in the escalator with our bags and met when we reached out floor, we were shown to own room and shown how everything operates. Not even a hint that this was done to obtain a tip for same. The room was a good size for Rome, nice bathroom and good shower. We also had a terrace which was a nice outside space. The standard of the furnishings is very high, very reasonable priced mini bar, comfortable bed. Breakfast is served in a marquee type structure outside but again very well done. The price we found good considering you are in the centre of rome. You are within 10 mins easy walking distance of most of the major sites. We would definately stay here again. If you are flying into Da Vinci airport be aware that it is 36km from the city, the train into termini is 11 euro each and from there it is one stop on the underground (1 euro), however if you like us have two cases to lug about a taxi while expensive is so worthwhile, as the cobbled streets are unforgiving!

Stayed here with my boyfriend in March 2008 after reading reviews on trip advisor. The hotel has a 3* rating but I think it deserves more. Well located, we walked everywhere. The furthest sight was the Vatican but even this was only a 30 min walk and there is so much to see en route. The Colosseum is only 10 mins walk away.

Our room was ready despite us arriving at 11am, which was a nice surprise.

Our room was modern, had a big comfy bed and a very nice bathroom. The mini bar was reasonably priced and re-stocked every day.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was perfectly ample, with a help yourself buffet and some lovely fresh pastries.

I would definitely stay here again. I think its very good value and a lovely hotel.

I recommend the wine bar a few doors up the road, on the opposite side.

We just spent 3 nights at the Hotel Artorius. It is a little gem. The family that run it are so friendly and helpful...just ask and they oblige....extra pillow, early calls and even earlier breakfast. The rooms are on the first floor of what would seem to be an old townhouse very tastefully refurbished. The rooms are modern very clean with large marble bathrooms. plenty of towels changed daily. the hotel is central to all the main sites and a 20 min stroll from the termini station. Beware of the taxi drivers they will take you the long way and charge a fortune... ask the price before you get in!!!!

We could not find anything wrong with this hotel! Excellent 2 stars family run hotel. Ask for room 108 (with the terrace) or room 103. Spacious room and super clean bathroom. Very quiet thanks to soundproof windows. We loved the high-tech remote light sensors. Also, the security sensors to open the hallway doors made us feel very safe. Great breakfast. Do try the cappucino! The Owners (Papa & Mama) and their son (Alessandro) were courteous, friendly and very helpful. If you ask them to call a taxi for you, the taxi would be at the front door in 3 minutes! We highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Thanks Artorius for a wonderful stay!

This is a family run bed-and-breakfast that has been in operation about a year. Breakfast buffet was substantial and was served in a covered outdoor gazebo with a grape vine growing overhead. Our room and bath were spotless. The high-tech remote light sensors and security sensors to open hallway doors were unexpected in this small hotel with just 10 rooms. Location was very convenient and safe at all times to walk to the Colosseum, Forum and Capitoline Hill. Good selection of Italian and Indian restaurants round the corner. The family speaks English and they were very helpful and friendly. They responded to emails promptly.

  • Liked — Great location, quaint and artistic decor, excellent breakfasts, spotlessly clean room/bath.
  • Disliked — We really could not fault this place. The beds were wonderful, the central heat worked.

The Hotel Artorius is a fantastic little hotel. It is centrally located, clean, nicely decorated and the owners are very friendly. I've stayed in other European hotels but this was by far the best! I honestly cannot think of a single complaint.

The breakfast was exactly the same each morning but it filled us and the cappucino was great. :-)

There are nice shops and restaurants all around the hotel also.

And for a person like me (who must continue working while on "vacation") it was nice to find a hotel with FREE internet access.

I would definitely stay here again!
