A simple, three-star hotel in the EUR suburb of Rome. There would be nothing to commend, apart from the convenience if you are there for business; but then you notice that the building is an unexpectedly beautiful Art Deco building, and that the rooms all have balconies and are well appointed and spacious. Maybe I'll go again...

Large rooms with balcony, very clean, with good desk and lighting for clients working in the area. Its weakest area is catering: limited choice buffet breakfast is included in room rate, but restaurant week day evenings only, requires reservation and menu seems to change weekly (limited choice). However, the reception willingly calls for external catering delivery, with wide choice; takes almost an hour but copious, reasonable quality and not expensive. A courtesy tea/coffee-making tray would be a valuable addition.

The staff are friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. NB - Hard to find TV channels in any language other than Italian! I finally found CNN & France 24, so could at least catch news I could understand ... but no entertainment!

I would gladly come back here if I have to work in this area again.

The Hotel Tre Fontane is sutuated in a cul-de-sac just off the Via del Serafico in the EUR district of Rome. Although quite basic in many ways, it is a comfortable hotel and the reception desk staff all speak very good English. Most of the remaining staff can understand English and were willing to help assist when requested.
The rooms are comfy but basic. The TV system only shows a small number of english-speaking TV channels (CNN being the primary - No BBC!).
Wifi is available in the rooms but you have to take pot luck regarding the reception. If you can use a network cable, there are network sockets in the rooms but these connect to the shared service so the strength of network bandwisdth does vary depending on how many people are on-line.
The strangest thing about the hotel is that you have to book, in advance, to have a meal in the (pretty basic) restaurant. Also, for the evening meal there may be a very limited choice - but at least the food is tasty and reasonably substantial.
Compared to other hotels in the area, this is much less expensive and they do treat you like a "guest".

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the #5-#7 range (where # is the floor number) as this will be facing away from...

Booked in on a business trip when usual hotels were unavailable. Good sized room, very clean with contemporary styling - if perhaps a bit too clinical for personal taste. Staff friendly and helpful. Dinner menu limited to a single choice for each course, house wine reasonably priced and very drinkable. Restaurant itself is on the 'cold' side of contemporary, but food itself was ok and staff again were friendly/helpful. Not much choice for eating out directly around hotel. Breakfast was classic Italian/continental buffet and morning staff very frienldy and welcoming. Not well suited for sightseeing, nearest metro station is a 10 minute walk, but Hotel has parking on site and is ideal for business in Via Serafico / EUR district. No gym / pool and no running routes - just follow the main roads! Could not get WiFi to connect on - despite good signal strength

I stayed there for 3 nights in April 2012 for a business meeting, situated on a pleasant silent location looks good for business. But no other recreational points such as Gym, coffee house or indoor sports... Breakfast menu is very limited. Need to have improvement on front desk as they are not supportive. WIFI in my room was not working and even after complaint no one came to repair. Over all the experience was OK considering the rooms were good and our office was walking distance from the hotel.

Used to business trips to Rome, tired of high cost standard hotels where one is just another number on a report and where they don't even have the decency to propose free wifi, I'm very happy to have found the Tre Fontane.
People smile to me, I feel like a real person (yes... in an Italian hotel... hard to believe, I know), prices are much lower (makes it an excellent quality/price ratio to me) and Wifi is free!
The only issue is about dinner in the evening. No restaurant on site unless you plan ahead or decide to go have dinner downtown (who would be stupid enough to have dinner in a hotel when staying in Rome, anyway?).

Stayed here on a one evening business trip. A non-pretentious business hotel which I liked. Surprisingly large rooms and walking distance to the commercial area I need to visit. Free fast wifi too. The restaurant menu and ambience was awful. Well worth the €20 taxi fares to get to a local pizzeria I felt. Although for breakfast, although cramped and simple, it was quite adequate. Service friendly but a little amateur. The main reason I have only rated Tre Fontane a 3 is the room rate. €110 was just a bit too much to be good value. Put a decent desk in the room, provide a few toiletries and improve the restaurant and I would rate it above some of the other posher hotels I have stayed in on trips to Rome.
