“Great place to stay”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Stayed at the Hotel Roma Vaticano in mid September 2013 for 3 nights. What we were after was a place to stay that would provide breakfast and a clean environment in which to sleep after an exhausting day's sight seeing. This is exactly what we experienced at the Hotel Roma Vaticano! The price was very reasonable in comparison to other places we looked at. The location is very convenient for the Vatican - 10 minute walk maybe - and a 15 or 20 minute walk from the Spanish steps. All in all convenient for sightseeing.
The place is quiet so no noise. It is spotlessly clean, and very comfortable beds. The breakfast in bed was a real treat - I know it is because there is no restaurant, but breakfast in bed was just lovely. The food was high quality (most delicious croissant I have ever tasted - so fresh).
The staff were really helpful - helping us with taxis, restaurants directions etc. There were restaurants and cafes in the local area.
The only negative is that the room we had was quite small and we struggled to find shelves for our toiletries in the bathroom - but hey that is a minor negative.
In summary - if you just want a place to rest your head and you don't envisage spending days in your hotel, then this is a great pied a terre from which to explore Rome.

My wife and I stayed here for our 2 year anniversary - we weren't after much, just a place to sleep and rest in between sights, and Hotel Roma Vaticano suited that perfectly.

There isn't much space in the room (Pantheon, for us), but, to me, that's understandable, being in the area it is. It's well situated, being within a 15 minute walk of Vatican City, and Castel Sant'Angelo, and about the same from the nearest Metro Station.

The room was clean, and the bed was more than comfortable (pillows were a bit soft for my taste, but that's a small niggle down to personal taste). The shower worked well, and there were lights in the room - didn't really need much more than that!

The staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them at any point, whether it was advice or recommendations, or providing coffee outside of breakfast time. Breakfast was, for me, excellent, but my wife would've liked to have seen a cereal based option (due to a restricted diet), but got along well enough on the bread and fruit provided.

We found the room was a bit noisy (Pantheon being right next to reception), but it wasn't enough to cause us to lose any sleep. We expected street noise, being as the hotel is in the middle of a busy city, but again, it wasn't too bad at all. The aircon (which wasn't noisy), drowned that out nicely enough.

Overall, the for price you pay, and the location, so long as you're after a hotel to serve as a base for sight seeing, Hotel Roma Vaticano was wonderful.

I stayed with my dad in the Colloseum room in 2 single beds. For a European hotel the room was quite spacious, I was told however that the collosueum room was the biggest so I cannot comment on the size of all the rooms. The room is modern, exceptionally clean and well presented. The location is in the "rich" part of Rome called rieti literally a 5 minute walk from the walls of the Vatican and castel sant Angelo. Only a 5 min metro to the Trevi fountain and 20 min metro to the colosseum. Amazing restaurants nearby and shopping! Lily the concierge is amazingly friendly and helpful and always makes sure you know exactly where you're going! If you're looking for a cute, quiet hotel stay in Rome, not a large chain hotel this is for you. The breakfast served in our room was beautiful, it's delivered to your room every morning at the tine of your choosing. If you like the conveniences of a large hotel with breakfast rooms, restaurants etc this is not for you but it is all you could need if you intend to spend the days sightseeing!

Room Tip: Ask for the colosseum room it's apparently the biggest!!

Rome was a stop for us for our honeymoon and we had never been there before. Prior to our arrival the staff at the hotel were very accommodating to our requests and were prompt to confirm our arrangements. From the moment we arrived the boutique hotel exceeded all our expectations. The staff were friendly, approachable and personable and made our time very comfortable. The location is amazing although not in dead centre of Rome we easily walked to all sites of interest Vatican City, Colosseum, Spagna and Trevi Fountain to name a few. The location allows for an escape from the busy streets whilst still being surrounded with great shopping and restaurants.
The breakfast was delicious and filling it always arrived on time delivered directly to our room.
Rome was a memorable trip and our stay at Hotel Roma Vaticano played a part in this. I can not rate our stay high enough. Amazing!! -Sally

This is an interesting hotel for me. It has amazing reviews, but when we got there we found a 7 room facility that wasn't even staffed 24 hours a day. After looking back at the reviews, it seems most people have left glowing reviews based on the fact that (1) they loved their trip to Rome, (2) the rooms are cleaned well, and (3) it is reasonably priced.

The Good:
-This hotel is a bargain. At the time of this review, this is the only top 25 rated hotel in Rome that doesn't cost hundreds of euros a night.
-The hotel is appointed well - newly remodeled with nice wood flooring, a desk, closet, tile shower, and air conditioning.
-Free WiFi
-Excellent cleanliness

The Bad:
-As with many of the hotel rooms in Rome, our room was tiny. There was probably only 2-3 feet on each side of the bed before you were at the edge of the room. Then at the foot of the bed there was even less space since there was a desk there which took up nearly all the remaining space.
-The service we experienced was not even close what other reviewers describe. The front desk staff quality really varied. Some of the employees were hospitable, but I witnessed others be rude to myself and other guests.
-The front desk is not open 24 hours, so if you have any issues in the night, no one is there to assist you. There may be a phone number or someone to call, but it wasn't made clear to us on the process.
-Noise. Our room experienced a tremendous amount of noise nearly every day from inside the hotel. I needed ear plugs every day. The hotel is located on one floor in a mixed-use building, so all housekeeping staff activities, front desk discussions, or breakfast preparation was clearly heard in our room when our door was closed.
-The hotel has zero other amenities (business center, pool, fitness, dining facilities, etc) since is essentially only a hallway with 7 rooms

Overall we would consider staying here again, but it is only an average hotel for Rome (3 Star TripAdvisor review).

Dear Mr. Drew,

Thank you for your positive assessment given to the cleanliness and the decor of our guest house, but frankly we are a bit perlexed by your comment concerning the reviews of our previous guests which according to their judgement they considered their stay with us optimal being more than pleased by our services and our staff , Lili and Giorgia ,whom always proved a good education and professionality!

Let me remind you that every person has his own opinion and judgement , being free to express it .

Your comment has put the point only on the basis of our marvelous city , the cleanliness of our guest house and the advantageous price!

you mentioned that our staff was rude with you and with the other guests.....this is hard to believe considering , again, the another reviews!

But if in your case was as you said, we will take the measure to solve this problem ( much easier if you mentioned the name of our rude staff) , we are sorry that we didn t received your complaint during your stay for 3 nights....

You see, we are trying to offer to our guests a touch of unicity and a comfortable atmosphere during their stay with us, cause is a real pleasure to meet every customer , being at their disposal, making them feel welcomed, helping them with any information that they need!

Also, we are confused when make your comment about the services that we offer, because Mr. Drew, i think that we represent in all the websites very clearly the services that we can offer and we don t describe any business center, pool, fitness, dining facilities, etc..... so when you ve booked you already knew that.... we offer to our guest what they read and see on the websites and i invite you to take in consideration the category of our Guest House!

we hope to have another opportunity to welcome you again and we really thank you for your time dedicated to write your review and for all your observation because every feedback from our customers will improve us as a team and our services .

Kindest Regards

Direttore,
Massimiliano Ferretti

The service at the hotel is great. The girls at the front desk are very nice and helpful. You feel more like you're staying in your own apartment in Rome instead of a hotel. They also serve you breakfast in bed standard. That, combined with the location and price, make it hard to beat.
