Great location, felt safe in the area, was not impressed with room had to be moved from a dirty room 12 which we refused to stay in. Room 44 was better although the shower was far too small to be useable really. Staff were fantastic and this made up for the rooms. The breakfast was good although more choice would be good.

Room Tip: room 44 was better than 12

I really do agree with a couple of the other reviews of this hotel in that you get what you pay for. I was travelling around Italy with one of my friends through August, and Rome was our last stop. We booked the Hotel Ivanhoe after reading reviews on Expedia and Trip Advisor, and I have to say that we really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is in a lovely area, not far from Termini Train Station so we were able to walk there, also close to the Colosseum, the Vittoriano and the Cavour Metro station as well as some bus stops. There were also some lovely restaurants around, and a nice little gelato shop. Breakfast was included, and although it was basic, it was lovely and served us really well. The staff were always really friendly, and I don't know the two girls names who were often behind the reception desk but they were both really lovely and SO helpful!

The hotel is small, but it was perfect for us, and in general when on a city break you don't need to spend time in your room other than for sleeping. The bathroom was small, and the shower was really tiny - possibly the only downside I can think of about this hotel - I think a 6ft male would struggle, as we were two girls and we found it small but manageable. The hotel and the room were really clean, and our towels were changed everyday. We didn't notice any noise at night as mentioned in some of the other reviews, but perhaps this was due to the location of our room? The air conditioning was great, and was always a welcome treat when we returned to our rooms after a hard days sightseeing! The minibar in the room was also good (as mentioned in other reviews), the drinks were really reasonably priced (€1.50 for a bottle of water for example), and had a good selection of drinks.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. As I say, we didn't have any problems. I just don't know whether I would have been able to put up with the shower for much more than 4 nights.

Booked this holiday on impulse and it was amazing!! The hotel is lovely as are the staff, they cannot do enough for you. Dimitri and Cristiana the recepition staff are two of the best staff i have come across, they are extremely lovely people!! The hotel is in the perfect area for all the favourite historical sites, the coloseum is just five minutes walk away, and you also get a map on arrival anyway. You get all the usual ammenities WiFi is free and also close to the Cavour Metro which is very easy to use. The breakfast is fab and there is also a roof top terrace where you can take your breakfast and use it later for a glass of wine at nite, fantastic. Will definately come back to this hotel, everyone should try it!! Also amazingly cheap resteraunts very close by. Excellant in every way.

This hostel is hard to find but when you do it is well worth it. Its a small hostel but the very welcoming and hospitable. Dont miss the group dinner. They have nice free computers and the owner made free snacks and drinks for the guests. Its a short walk to many places to visit in Rome and the staff are more than accomidating to help you find anything you want to visit. This Is my favorite place in Rome and one of the best places in Italy to intermingle with fellow travelers.

Room Tip: The dorms are all surrounding the common area which is a great place to chill and hang out.

Myself and my family have just returned from Rome, staying at Hotel Ivanhoe. I have to say we had a fantastic time and a very comfortable stay!
The hotel was brilliantly located and the staff were more than helpful and accommodating.
The hotel is very close to Cavour Metro station, so if you didn't want to walk in the heat (it was hot, hot, hot!) then you could hop on the metro. We bought 3 day Metro passes for €16.50 and used them loads (inc.a day trip to Ostia Antica-a great day out).
The hotel itself was very clean , towels are provided in rooms and cleaned daily. We didn't find the rooms too small, but we are European travellers, so maybe we are used to this?! The showers were small, but again, this didn't pose any problems for us.
The rooms have minibars with an array of drinks-cheaper than in shops, so we took full advantage of this!
Breakfast was lovely and there was a good range, from fresh croissants to cheese and meats to cereal.
The staff were really great-a definate high point! Danilo, Cristiana and Demetri were very friendly and always happy to help. They printed off boarding passes and ticket reservations for us, showed us where the must see places to visit were (highlighting for us on a map), recommended restaurants (giving us 10% off cards) and offered us cookies on our return to the hotel!
All in all, a great place-would definately recommend.
Thank you Hotel Ivanhoe for a fantastic stay!
The Palmer Family!

Our family of four stayed for eight nights at the Ivanhoe. This is a super little hotel, with cheerful, friendly staff, lovely breakfasts, a delightful rooftop terrace and clean and tidy rooms - although the bathrooms are small. It's location is excellent for the Colosseum and Roman Forum, most major sights are within walking distance, and there is a real feel of local life. There are numerous places to eat nearby and useful shops. The hotel is also handy for the City's Termini Station, which is no more than ten minutes away on foot. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would return again!
