We chose this hotel due to its location. It is about a 5 minute walk from Roma Termini station. We had heard bad things about this area in Rome but found it perfectly safe and were not worried walking around at night there. Being so close to the metro and bus station made it easy to get around to all the attractions. We took a taxi one night out to Campo di Fiori (square with lots of bars / restaurants), this costs approx. $15 – one thing we found strange about taxi’s in Rome was that they charge you from where the driver receives the call. So if he was several miles away you get charged from there.
We received a free upgrade to a larger room which had 1 double bed and 2 singles, probably due to January being a quiet time of the year. I am glad we visited this time of year and the queues for attractions were not too long and I can imagine in the summer it is a bit of a nightmare with all the tourists.
The room was really clean, had extra pillows and blankets and all the basic facilities e.g. hair dryer, toiletries, TV with several English news channels. The only thing I wasn’t impressed with was the shower as it was a bit small. Wi-Fi was available for a fee of $2 a night per device and worked well.
Breakfast was basic, not the greatest selection of food or drink but included in the price so cannot complain.
We did walk past the hotel a couple of times as there is no sign outside and only on the door.
Overall, I would stay again as it was a convenient location and affordable choice in an expensive city.
