nice hotel and nice room. A real 4 stars for a good price. Quite big rooms and clean. Nice breakfast.
The only negative point is the location, because is quite faraway from the citycenter and from the tube.

The hotel was good and the rooms where clean and tidy. However, you have to know that if you arrive before 14.00, you will probably not be able to enter you room. Also, it's far away from the center and you need to take a metro & a bus ( which usually passes every 30 minutes) in order to reach the hotel. So if you want to stay for more than a night and you are about to use local transportation, you have be ready to spend a lot of time on your way to ´sightseeing´. Also, the transportation to the airport ( referred as 'hotel bus' is not so trustworthy. During our stay, it was out of service due to mechanical problems. So, with no option left, the only way to reach Ciampino airport was by taxi (20-25 euros). Usually, there are only to buses running to the airport, the first 7.00in the morning and the second 16.00 in the evening. No other alternative provided by the hotel...

Firstly, bare in mind that this hotel, whilst defined as Central Rome, is off the beaten track and certainly not within walking distance of any of the major attractions. However the hotel offers a private shuttle service to local metro station so you can head into Rome easily. This service isn't very frequent so my partner and i found ourselves hopping onto the local bus (as English this was a terrifying prospect). The local bus takes you to metro in about 30 minutes. From here you simply head on the metro. Tickets for unlimited travel on metro/buses for several days is approx 22 euros and well spent.

The hotel itself was visually appealing and was enjoyable to spend time in. The pool was fantastic to dive into after a day of travelling around Rome. The pool had a bar closeby and during the day a portable fridge unit served Peroni directly poolside. The breakfasts were of a good quality and tasted great. Breakfast served a mixture of the usual meats, cheese, pastries and fruit along with coffees/fruit juices etc. The restaurant served good food but not very large portions. Would recommend eating in once but save your money for other places. The staff were all polite and friendly. However, do not expect any advice on travelling into Rome as this hotel is a business hotel first and foremost and wilst most staff do their best to assist, the language barrier can become a problem. In regards to finding your way around, your best bet is to do your research as to what monuments are at each stop (something we neglected to do before we went). Fortunately the hotel offers free wifi so research wasn't difficult. Our suite was the business suite. The room was more than spacious, with a queen sized bed, air con, a safe, tv and the bathroom had a complete bath and shower unit. The room had a balcony and couldn't have been any better. Unfortunately our bed broke on the first night. The hotel must have been aware of this issue previously. However, we simply propped the bed up so all was good.

The hotel is situated in a quiet area with a decent sized supermarket nearby (Todis) and you'll be able to get cheap snacks and more importantly cheap alcohol (Bottles of wine approx 3 euros). There isn't a great deal of places to eat around here, but we would highly recommend going to the local pizzeria. The food quality is simply amazing and you have never tried real pizza until you have eaten here. Pizza being bought by the pound instead of slices made for a cheap eat out.

All in all couldn't fault this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore Rome, whilst not destroying your wallet and is happy to spend approx 30 mins of the day travelling into Rome and 30 mins back. Would definately return to this hotel.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Capannelle in a standard room on the 3rd floor as part of our European honeymoon, and whilst the room was very clean and tidy, and the staff were pleasant, we found our stay somewhat 'under whelming'.

We emailed the hotel 5 weeks before our arrival to double check some directions as to how to get there from the airport, but received no reply. We tried again about 3 weeks before our arrival and still no reply. Then once we were already on holiday, we emailed again approximately 3 days before our arrival, but still no reply.

Thus, we had some difficulty in getting there as it is not on the main road and as such is a little tricky to find the first time. When we checked in we questioned the reception staff as to why our emails were not responded to, but were told that they had had 'email troubles' that past week and had not received ANY emails. We advised them that we had sent other emails weeks before but had received no reply, however the receptionist could not answer that.

Whilst the room was very clean and tidy, it did lack a sense of 'warmth' and 'welcome-ness' that we have experienced in hotels even with a lower star rating. For example, there were no tea and coffee facilities which are standard in hotels around the world. After our 'eventful trip' in finally reaching the hotel, it would have been nice to relax in our room with a tea or coffee, but alas - there was no jug or tea or coffee sachets to make one.

There were also only 2 VERY thin pillows on the bed (two king singles pushed together with a very defined line down the middle. Clearly 'romance' is not high on the list of priorities for this hotel..) In our experience it is standard for hotels to put other pillows in the cupboard - either fluffier or thinner than the ones on the bed, so that the guest can make a choice, but when I checked in the cupboard there were no extras. I did however explain to the reception that the pillows were VERY thin, and as my husband and I were only given one each we couldn't even put 2 pillows together to make them higher, and they then provided 2 more pillows - unfortunately equally as thin as the first ones.

The mattresses are also VERY hard, so much so that my husband who could normally sleep on a barbed wire fence, found it too hard, and had to put his thin doona on the mattress and sleep on it to try and get some comfort, but even that made no difference.

Also, the doonas (duvets) are 2 single doonas put into a king sized doona cover. The hotel staff also do not button up the doona covers, so the single doonas easily travel out of the doona cover during the night, or bunch up in separate corners. Very frustrating, and made for a restless sleep.

The hotel also does not provide iron or ironing board in each room, which normally would not bother me, but on this occasion I had some ironing to do. When I rang reception to ask if I could I have one brought to my room I was told no - there was one iron and one ironing board on our floor and I would have to take my clothes and iron in that room. Given the lighting and security issues (mentioned further on in this review) there was no way I was standing in a small room by myself ironing. I therefore had to 'borrow' the iron and ironing board and take them to our room where it was safe, and then return it later.

As mentioned in other reviews - you cannot open your sliding window without getting a handle from reception, and then you have to get them to come up and close it for you. My husband and I could not be bothered with this, so fortunately we had another window that opened inward that we propped open (it couldn't stay open itself) to let some fresh air in.

Our biggest issue with this hotel was the security, namely the lack of lighting in the corridors on our floor which I'm sure is the same on all floors. That is, when you get out of the lift and turn either left or right to walk down the winding corridors to your room you will find that the lights do not turn on until you are at least 10-15 metres along, and the sensors detect you and put the lights on. Yes, that's right - you're walking in total darkness until then, unless of course someone else has gotten out of the lift before you and has activated the sensors already.

As a couple we found that we were able to activate the lights a bit quicker if we walked along together and waved our hands up and around, but when we tested what happened if we just walked along normally we were rather shocked. That is - my husband walked along down the middle of the corridor by himself without waving his arms and the lights did not turn on until he was almost at the room.

We also found that one night the lights did not turn on AT ALL and we had to get out our mobile phones to search for light to find our door. We immediately rang reception to advise them but it left us with a rather bad taste in our mouth in regards to security.

In regards to security, we also found a man lurking outside our door the next morning who when we opened our door, immediately walked down the corridor and pretended to be looking at door numbers further down. We watched him and he continued to do this (as he knew we were watching him) and then he walked on. We immediately told reception who said that they would look into it, but given the lack of lighting in the corridors (no natural light comes in as there are no windows on the corridors) we made sure that we carried torches with us from then on.

The food in the restaurant is fine. Nothing overly exciting, and the menu is small, but it was quick, clean, reasonably priced, and an easy option after being in Rome all day. Breakfast is included in your room rate and you should be able to find something there that you like to eat. They also cater to guests who need gluten-free products - you just need to advise them at breakfast.

Due to the lighting/security issues, if I had to return to Rome I would stay in another hotel.

Room Tip: Take a torch and keep it with you for walking in the corridors for safety. Also, as soon as you chec...

This hotel states you can have a balcony, but doesnt state with restrictions imposed,eg. everytime
you want it open or closed you have to call, the staff with the key,to open or close it,we had no
plug in our bathroom,we waited more than half an hour,to get one from reception,if it belongs in
the bathroom ,why does it have to be brought to the room,no tea or coffee facilities, information
among staff ,is confusing,we were told we could have a room with a balcony.in 2 days time, another member of,staff they dont exist, they dont even have a table and chairs on the balconies,I certainly would not rate this hotel a 4 star,we just checked out from the Hilton and
there is no comparison, the hilton really is 4 star, the bed light did not work these are basic things, that you expect are checked as soon,as the room is vacated.the air condition wasnt working, again it should be checked in advance, would not stay here again or recommend,

i found the service to be relatively poor, the rooms were very 3-star and the location is a big inconvenience. you can find better value for money if you look around.

our air conditioning didnt work very well, and in the afternoon, the sun is directly facing our window/balcony, and it gets VERY warm. we were on the ground floor and in order to open our window (which was a necessity as the A/C did nothing) we had to call reception who would send someone with the handle. out of the 4 times we asked, on 4 separate days, only TWICE did someone actually arrive. it was an annoyance when we needed to be somewhere, and call for someone to come and close the window, and they take their time, while we're looking at our watches, watching time tick away as we get closer and closer to missing our tour.

the location makes it an major inconvenience trying to get into town, as it does take some time, and the trip from the airport to the hotel can be VERY expensive. taxi - 120 euros, shuttle bus - 65 euros.

i found the service to be poor, rarely saw anyone smile, and they seemed grumpy when spoken to. the only people who seemed nice were the maids.

find somewhere else if you can
