“Hotel Galatea - excellent!”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

we have booked 4 nights in the hotel.
we are very satisfied, the hotel is in great location - walk distance from everywhere in rome center.
the rooms are clean, the stuff are kindly.
the breakfast contains not so much selection but it is OK.
There are few restaurants near the hotel - very very close.

I recommend on it.

The hotel was in a perfect location for seeing everything in Rome. We walked everywhere, which shows the hotel was in a great location. The front of the hotel doesn't do it any justice as you walk through some large doors and be greeted by a fountain. However once you climb to the 3rd floor the hotel improves its quality with a reception and breakfast area. The rooms are of a large size, good breakfast to keep you going all day and very close to the train station. Staff are very friendly and helpful with advising on what's good to see when. The stairs can be a little troublesome but aren't too bad once you get used to them. A lovely family run restaurant close by was great to visit, really close to the main shopping street. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for 10 nights with hubby, wanted a hotel near enough to all the attractions but in a quieter area. Hotel Galatea fit the bill completely. 25 mins walk to the monument and the colosseum and forum. Room cleaned every day. Towels changed daily. Breakfast consisted of cereal, fruit, pastries, bread etc tea and coffee. Reception staff brilliant ( try a bit of the language - they will appreciate it ) Room was minimally furnished but kept spotless. Mattress a bit firm but you are walking around so much you fall asleep straight away. You can only use the old lift from the 1st floor so you have to walk the 1st two flights of stairs ( only a problem when you have suitcases on the 1st and last day ) Overall a basic but very clean hotel which I would be happy to stay in again.

Stayed here for 5 nights and generally enjoyed our stay. Rooms were comfortable, staff was friendly, most sites walkable. Breakfast consisted of cereal and some breads, certainly sufficient. Biggest complaint was the lack of wifi in the rooms - had to go out to lobby/breakfast room to have any access.

Superb location very close to all the attractions ,old building has alot of character but the lift was something out of the film saw and kept getting stuck, the reception was on the 3rd floor and the windows didn't shut and you wasn't allowed a bath due to their insurance and the electrical plugs didnt work properly and no cooked breakie but overall a pleasant stay

I was celebrating my 40th birthday with friends. Stayed for 3 nights. This was an excellent hotel & perfect location to the main attractions to be able to walk (if you wanted). Very very clean & lovely friendly reception staff. Would definately stay here again. Good value for money. Very good continental breakfast. The only downside was the lift from ground to 1st floor wasn't working and hotel was on 3rd floor, this wasn't a problem for the group that I was in but for someone less mobile it would have been.

Having read some of the reviews all I can say is some people are very hard to please! This little hotel was excellent value for money. I would agree however that anyone with mobility problems may find the climb to the first floor a bit difficult. Bearing in mind that this is a budget hotel in central Rome it was a pleasant surprise. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, the rooms were spotless as was the bathroom and as for the "hard" matresses I would say they were firm and comfortable. Breakfast though limited in choice was perfectly adequate and there was plenty of it so you wont go hungry! The hotel is also well situated within walking distance of all the popular sights, even the Vatican city is accessable on foot. There are also three very good wee restaurants in the same street turn left when you come out and head up to Est Est Est for fab pizza but both it and the Chinese across from it are closed on Mondays. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and when I return will be heading for the Galatea.!
