This is a very nice hotel with an outstanding location. No longer than a 30 minute walk to almost everything in Rome and less than 15 minutes to many. It has just been renovated. A few very odd issues that were clearly missed during the renovations. Rooms are "quirky." Our room, on the first floor, had 4 rather awkward steps down from the bedroom to the bathroom and at night they could be treacherous. Room was poorly lit. Most unfortunate was the absence of an outlet in the bathroom for anything other than an electric shaver. So the hair dryer had to be plugged in elsewhere ... usually in an awkward configuration in the bedroom with little access to a mirror. Very strange. There were no dressers for clothes in the room...instead a huge wall closet, but with inadequate space for clothes. And, finally, room could have used better light. Odd issues for a hotel that was just renovated!

The staff are terrific, the breakfast is outstanding and the rooftop dining area is superb with a great view of the city. The bar is also very nice. It is on a quiet street with little city noise.

Overall, we recommend this hotel with a few reservations.

Dear Robert S

Thank you for taking the time to post a review.

We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay at Hotel Indigo Rome-St.George.

We appreciate your comments regarding our Staff and our breakfast and Roof Top

With reference of your experience with our room, please note that we are located in a building of XV century.

For this reason our architect managed the setup of the rooms, room by room, and, in some of our rooms we have not big dressers for clothes.

As per security standards of IHG,in the bathroom we can have just the an electric plug for shaver only, For the same reasons the hair dryer must to be located and plugged far from this.

Thank you again for choosing Hotel Indigo Rome- St George and we hope to welcome you back again soon!

This hotel (formerly the “St. George”) has been recently renovated and it shows. The location is very good especially someone who is interested in the Vatican. The inside is lovely, with exposed stone and marble. It is comforting and calming to walk into the lobby. The rooms are decorated very beautifully with heavy wainscoting, a deep red wall on one side and an architectural mural on the other (see website for photos of deluxe room). The windows are beautiful (no view) with new shutters. The size of the standard room however, is very small. There is a king size bed and a desk in the bedroom which allows for little room to place suitcases. Therefore the room becomes very congested when two suitcases are unfurled. The bathroom is small but adequate however the designer obviously never used the facility because in order to use the toilet you must squeeze around and put your knees under the sink (good when your are sleepy you can rest your head on the sink). It is confusing to me because the bidet is beside the toilet has nothing in front of it. It would have made much more sense to place the toilet there. The sink is nice to look at but very small with no place to situate your personal items. The shower is a major problem because there is no enclosure to keep the water from running into the bathroom. It required us to dam up the floor with towels to keep the water from running under the door and on to the wood flooring in the bedroom. It would merely take a door or a curtain or a larger piece of glass to prevent the water from ending up on the bathroom floor. After each shower we had to spend a few minutes cleaning up the floor so that we would not have to use a wet bathroom. I realize that this is Rome and space is limited but with just a little bit of design forethought this could have been a much better facility.
The restaurant is very expensive as is the roof top bar but it is a pleasant place to sit and relax although it closes early in the day. The Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna are very, very nice; a wonderful respite after a day of touring.
The hotel front desk may recommend a restaurant called Osteria dell Antiquario, it is our recommendation that you steer clear of this place. The maître d’ is overbearing and rude and exploitative. He will try to pick your pocket in numerous ways to get exploit your vulnerability as a tourist.
Overall a very nice place to stay but a bit overpriced for the value.

Dear Jimflyght

Thank you for taking time and trouble to write to us regarding your stay at the Hotel Indigo Rome - St.George. Although we note that in general you were not happy with the room size and shower system. I do apologize. We have three room category ( Standard, Executive and Executive Suite ) totally renovated but still located in a building of XV century, for this reason, rooms are not so big as they could be in a modern style hotel. The philosophy of Hotel Indigo Rome - St George is that the rooms were made for night use, and large public areas for daytime life. We are sorry to hear about our shower problems, for this please accept our personal apologies, and we are so glad to hear that you enjoyed our SPA and Roof Top.
I am also sorry to learn that the services of our recommended outside restaurant was mediocre. We will contact the restaurant owner in order to extend your complaint and be sure that this will not happen anymore. Please trust us when we say that this is the first complain about this restaurant. Thank you again for sharing your recent experience with us and we look forward to welcoming you again soon

With warmest regards

I spent 5 nights at the Indigo St. George Hotel at the end of April. Everything was just perfect. The location is hard to beat ( very quiet area, charming neighborhood, 5 min. walk to the Vatican, 10 min. walk to Piazza Navonna, 15 min. walk to the Pantheon). The rooms are large and very comfortable. The staff is very friendly. The garden is very nice . I have been to Rome 7 times and I think that I just found my new home in Rome. I am definitely coming back. Grazie mille.

It's an elegant facility, with modern and sleek common rooms and comfortable guest rooms within a 500 year old building in a picturesque street convenient to central Rome and St. Peter's. A bit pricey but a great location if you've seen enough antiquities and want to experience Renaissance Rome.

The Indigo hotel works for a trip to Rome. Its a hybrid between a business hotel and a tourist hotel. The neighborhood is nice and the hotel is modern and clean. We had a couple of random issues when we were there. One night we were in the elevator and it dropped a floor instead of going up. Also there was one night the water in our room came out pure brown which they said was an issue in the entire neighborhood. We had 2 connecting rooms and that setup worked well for our family.

The hotel is ideally located but the rooms are quite small and although they indicate that the air can be controlled within each room, that is only the case when the heat or air conditioning is working. At this time of year, that in-between season, the air could have been used in the room and it was not turned out. We complained repeatedly to staff but to no avail. The room was nicely furnished although definitely on the small side for an "Executive Room" with a queen size, not king bed....and the room remained way to hot for comfortable sleeping. The hotel suggested opening a window, which seems quite logical, but it opens onto much noise from the local main street (when windows are closed, it is very sound proof). The hotel is clean, it is ideally situated, breakfasts are also quite expansive and lovely, but it had more of a "Holiday Inn" feel, very impersonalized staff, and we had instead anticipated a boutique hotel. It did not feel that way.

Room Tip: Ask for what you want - and then ask to see a room before choosing it. All the rooms are on the sma...

Dear Jess_10,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your recent stay at he Hotel Indigo Rome-St.George.
I am really sorry to learn that you experienced problems with the high temperature during tour stay, This period of season is very strange the temperature go up do 25C on daytime and drop to 10C at night, guest require A/C and heating at the same time.
As I am sure you have noticed, the hotel is housed in a beautiful 15th century building which gives the hotel great character and charm, but at the same time, it limit us to a two pipe system, the system, in fact , can provide heating or A/C separately and not both at the same time, also for the rooms due to the Italian regulations we are unable to modify the shape or the size of any rooms and this is the reason why some of them may not provide generous space, we tryed to componsate the ancient with the modern with a bit of charm.
We hope we will have the opportunity to welcoming you again soon, and give you a bigger room.
Sincerely,
Paolo Falchi

I should start by saying that we have traveled all over the world, take many trips a year and are picky New Yorker’s. If there is something to complain about I usually will find it. That being said I give this hotel very high marks!

The hotel is conveniently situated. We were able to walk to almost all the sites in 15 minutes or less. The Colosseum was a bit further so we took a cab for 7 Euros but I’m sure you could take a bus as well (I hear it is a 30 minute walk). The staff really stood out to us. We arrived before 10:00AM and were able to check in immediately. At the front desk we were greeted by a woman named Orietta. She was really a super star! She gave us a map, showed us where the sites were and explained all the neighborhoods to us. She also made dinner reservations, called us taxis when needed and gave us lots of advice. This was always done with a smile and a great attitude. The other front desk staff was also helpful and attentive. We never once had to wait to be helped. The manager, Anthony, had a great sense of humor and I can see why the staff is so personable under his direction. We ate dinner at the restaurant a couple of nights and enjoyed the food as well as the service. The wait staff offered up some of the best service we have ever had and the bar tender was terrific. One night we arrived after the kitchen had closed but the bar tender went into the back and arranged to have them make us something. The service far exceeded my expectations in every area of the hotel.

The hotel has modern, chic furnishings and décor. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and had windows that opened to a quiet street. They provided and iron, mini refrigerator and good blow dryer. The bathroom while clean and modern was a little awkwardly set up. For instance the toilet was very close to the sink and the makeup mirror was over the toilet.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel for its great location, outstanding service and clean comfortable chic rooms.
