Our room was on the top floor with a balcony. Breakfast was wonderful. There is a nice little coffee shop about two streets down, the owner was wonderful. If you like 4 star in America stay somewhere else, but if you are looking for a good deal, this one is for you. We stayed 4 nights. The only thing bad I could say is the smell comes from the sewer because there is no S traps. We just put towels over the drains. Other than that, wonderful. Some good tips... stay off the subway. Do just pay the 40 Euro for a taxi to your hotel from the airport. Do get the Roma pass lines are very long otherwise. Do get Vatican resevations online as well. Walk two streets over and take the bus #62 it will take you anywhere you want to go for tourist sites. WE loved it and are planning to go back.

Room Tip: Call after you book and request top floor with a balcony it was wonderful! Rooms are large and have big doors you can leave open.

The pictures are deceiving. When we arrived we were told we'd have to switch rooms the second night. The rooms we were in the first night were clean, remodeled and very nice...those are the ones pictured under Hotel Sallustio. The room we were moved to was a different story! They were filthy; dirty walls, dusty "wood" floors, TINY and dirty showers that you couldn't even bend over in or get out from under the water because there wasn't room to move! After feeling a little warm, we were informed that the A/C units are not turned on until June. Hey, how about bunk beds?! Yes, bunk beds as the extra ones in a triple room.
Apparently we weren't the only ones unhappy, we heard others in the lobby complaining about dirty bedding and dirty rooms. The owner was unfriendly and didn't want to hear your problems.
We found out that this hotel is actually four different ones owned by different family members,
probably the reason for the inconsistencies.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone!

This hotel was booked through a travel agents in Italy. The man said he'd sent people there before, which I very much doubt.

The reception area is very scruffy and dirty. We should have realized that the rest of the hotel would follow suit.

We only had two nights there. When we arrived the room was not ready even though reception said we could go in. A man was cleaning the room, not very well, there was still dirt on the floor after he left. The only positive point was, we noticed he’d changed the sheets. The room is a good size but again scruffy and gave the impression of being dirty. The bathroom is small and grubby looking, the shower head fell off the wall and they didn’t bother to fix it.

We told reception we weren’t happy with the room but there were an Italian couple waiting to change there’s too and like they said ‘you may get ours and we will get yours’, so we stuck it out for another night.

Anyway, it’s certainly not like the website pictures and should be avoided. The whole building is full of small hotels, it’s a mess to say the least.

The location is good, so check out other hotels along that road or in that area. The buses are very close by and you can walk to the train station.

This hotel is a brillant place to stay. It has A/C in all rooms and the breakfast included in the room price is very good and tasty. The staff speak both English and Italian. They are very helpful and will direct to anywhere you want to go in Rome. All rooms also have digital tv, an ensuite bathroom and a hairdryer.

The hotel is located near two metro stations called Repulbica and Temmini and the main bus station.

The hotel itself is difficult to find as its only sign is one of many gold plaques outside its building. When we dragged our cases up to the 3rd floor we were told we would be shown to our room - and were then led three blocks (but felt like more with cases in the dark) by a suspicious-looking man (we thought we were going to be led to a mugging in an alley, it was that kind of situation) to a residential apartment building which had its 4th floor converted into hotel rooms, quite separate from the hotel. Four keys are required between the main door and the room and they take some getting used to. There was a lift but we could only make it work for us going down. Once we were over the shock of this bizarre scenario it was OK - a decent room which was cleaned as in a normal hotel, a clean bathroom, no problems with 'flatmates' and a decent location within the city. There was a room set aside for breakfast but it didnt appeal to us. If you have booked this hotel, or are planning to do so, I hope you get to read this review so you know what to expect because Expedia did not warn us of anything unusual about the accommodation. If you go here already expecting to be moved somewhere else it should be OK.
