If you have the opportunity to stay at Portrait Roma, I highly recommend it. They have the most professional, knowledgeable, and courteous staff you could find. The hotel is centrally located to all the famous locations within Rome.

This is a small boutique hotel near the Spanish Steps and in the midst of high end shopping. It is owned by ferragamo- the rooms are beautiful and the staff are absolutely lovely. I already have plans to return.

The location of this hotel is in the heart of Rome just a block from the Spanish Steps. The staff was very accommodating and kind. The rooms were equipped with everything I needed including USB outlets and a flat iron for my hair! The rooftop terrace was beautiful and we used it every morning for breakfast and evening drinks. The view was amazing and it was a perfect place to gather everyday.

I just returned from a five-day stay at the Portrait Roma and it is just fabulous, my only complaint is that they spoiled me so much that when I checked into the next hotel on my Italian vacation, it was a huge let-down! Portrait is just exquisite. The staff is incredibly conscientious and warm, the breakfast (on the stunning roofdeck overlooking the city) is delicious, the rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished, and the location is incomparable, practically at the foot of the Spanish Steps, in the heart of the Via Condotti shopping district. Five stars!

We stayed for 4-days in early September in the Trinita Dei Monti Suite.

The hotel contacted us sometime before our arrival listing the services and excursions which they could provide, and we opted for a limousine transfer to and from the airport and private tour of the Vatican. They also asked how we wished our room to be set up even down to what type of music we would like playing in our room when we came back each evening, what we wanted in our fridge and what sort of cold cuts we would like as a pre-dinner treat. Not only did they ask us all of this, but they then fulfilled all of our requirements as well.

The suite is second to none, it is large and a huge wrap around terrace with superb views on 2-sides. The upper floor consists of a spacious living room, bedroom and en suite bathroom and the main bathroom and wardrobe are on the lower floor of the suite together with some exercise equipment.

The entrance to the hotel is tucked away on the corner of the Ferragamo store and one has to ring a bell to be admitted which can be a bit of a drag sometimes. There is a small lounge on the ground floor which is used for check in and a rooftop terrace bar. There is no restaurant on site but breakfast and simple lunch fare (club sandwiches, omelettes etc.) can be ordered.

What makes the hotel is its location, a few yards from the Spanish Steps and the attention to detail.

The suite is VERY nice, but I am not sure we would have enjoyed the experience in one of the more basic rooms.

The limousine from the airport whilst it was prompt was a bit frustrating, the driver spent the entire trip chatting on his mobile phone and when we did arrive there was confusion over whether we or the hotel were going to pay the driver. On the other hand, the trip back to the airport was the complete opposite with a sociable chatty driver.

The tour of the Vatican was also very well organised.

We had made several reservations for meals prior to our arrival however we decided to change one of these and the restaurant recommended by the hotel was an excellent choice.

All in all, we had a lovely time and apart from a few niggles would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat, however only if we stayed in that suite again!

Room tip: The Trinita Dei Monti suite speaks for itself
