“Strange Reviews - This Falls Between Them”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

Having read the number of "room moves" - we fall into that category. We arrived at the given address where Roberto informed us Matisse was closed and had moved to a block near the Colliseum.

This move he carried out the day after via a taxi. The rooms we used were OK, clean with air con and en-suite bathrooms. The 24 hour breakfast idea I liked - just raid the fridge anytime for yoghurts, butter, cheese, bread etc and make your own coffee - very good idea!

Roberto was helpful and informative but I was taken aback by the cash only thing! As other posters mentioned - my (robbing) bank charged me £3 to withdraw my own money to pay for the room... Grrrr

In summary - no complaints from us - but find it odd that many bookings are moved about and I would guess if you arrive late (we arrived mid afternoon) - then its not good news!

Rome is one of the most beaufiul cities you will ever see. What made it even better was staying at the Matisse B&B and meeting Roberto. His kindness and his generosity will never be forgotten. There is nothing he wouldn't do to ensure that your vacation is the best. Thank you Roberto. I would highly recommend his establishment to anyone looking to visit Rome.

Selected this B&B on the nice pictures of rooms and interior as to be seen on the website. However what we have seen was nothing like this. We stayed in a small room and the interior was very very basic.
If this was known to me, would have never made a reservation for this B&B for this price.
Cleanliness and location were more than ok.

Staying at the 'Matisse' is like living in a share house. We had a large room with a king size (comfortable) bed. A private shower room & seperate toilet were avaible to us, down the hall. All other guests were quiet, so there was no problem there. A cold breakfast is available all day. The location is good but noisy. All rooms do have double glazing which does help. Air conditioning is avaibable in the rooms (spit system), however could not find the remote control => may be of limited use. May need to ask the manager/owner - Roberto.

The B & B has many rooms on the spread within the building, so my review may not reflect what others may experience. We stayed in the group of rooms that is displayed on the internet. Free WiFi is available.

I came with a group of 32 people and 4 people ended up getting money stolen from their rooms. 80-130 dollars a piece. Our stuff was not just laying around either, it was in our wallets hidden in our closed suitcases. It would have taken several minutes to find our money. It was the housecleaning lady. She is very rude and disrespectful. We had to opt out of her cleaning service. If you want a nice trip and don't have to worry about having things stolen.... DONT COME TO HIS HOTEL. it's cheap for a reason.

I am a budget conscious traveler and I was not disappointed with Matisse because of its location: near the central train station (Termini), walking distance to a lot of tourist spots (Piazza dela Republica, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps). Price is affordable and you get complimentary breakfast (which they leave on their kitchen so you can have them all day long ;)) and you can use their desktop computer in case you need to access the internet. The place is comfy, quiet and clean. As soon as you are settled you will be given a map of Rome and will be directed to the tourist spots showing the best way to reach it. I will definitely recommend this place to ypu and my friends because I'll stay here once I'm back in Rome again.
