“Secret hideaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2013

We stayed in this hotel early May and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel has 14 rooms, so it is not crowded and you don't have trouble with other guests. The rooms were spacious and the bed was fantastic. We even had a jacuzzi in the bathroom! On occasion you have to cope with little space to put your clothes in, but that is nothing to worry about.
The staff was so helpful in many ways, advising on restaurants or giving directions. Also the waiter/bellboy and basically he did almost everything was very helpful and accomodating, as were the girls at breakfast time.
The hotel has a wonderul hideaway roof terrace and roof garden. Go to the top roof terrace on the small stairs!
Breakfast buffet was plenty, you could even order different preparations of eggs. The pre-dinner buffet was also a wonderful peaceful in between to calm down a little from the day in Rome, before having a tasteful dinner on a piazza in Rome!

Room Tip: Please use the car service from and to the airport if you want to avoid struggling with your suitcas...

We stayed here for 4 nights in December, on arrival the hotel couldn’t find our booking, we had booked through Expedia, they did find it eventually, and were great while looking.
We were shown to our room, it was lovely, but my husband had booked and upgrade as it was our anniversary and we were not given it, he called reception and they informed us the room we had booked was occupied but were happy to give us a suite if we were willing to change after 2 nights.
We were happy with this, after 2 nights we were moved to the original booked room which was equally as lovely. We therefore had sight of 3 rooms and stayed in 2 rooms, and all were exceptional, especially the spa baths which were lovely after the walking through Rome!
The hotel was clean and maintained/decorated to an extremely high level, its down a very authentic side street which only adds to its charm.
The breakfast was lovely, and the late afternoon snacks great too. Staff were helpful, one in particular who seemed to always be there couldn’t do enough, William, he made our stay even better.
We will most definitely be staying here again.

This hotel can be difficult to find, and once you do, the name is not over the door. But once you know where it is, you will appreciate its location. In the high-traffic, noisy part of Rome, this is a quiet and peaceful little place. The staff is hard-working and extremely accomodating. We especially liked and appreciated William, the bellman/barman/do-everything-guy with the friendly smile and great attitude. Also, the two Sylvia's that run the place are very professional and take guest comfort seriously.
Our view into the scenic little courtyard was wonderful. I agree with other guests' comments that the birds can be a bit loud, but I would rather hear birds than cars and busses. Earplugs are always a good idea on any trip. The rooftop terrace is quite nice at the end of a long day of touring (as well as for breakfast in the mornings- very good!).
It is easy to walk anywhere in the city from this location, especially the various ruins including of course the Forum and the Colloseum, but also the National Museum and other attractions. The best restaurants are not in this part of Rome, as it is a touristy area. However, better restaurants are not far a far walk or taxi ride. This is not a hotel where you have a big restaurant and huge reception area, but it if you like the more personal service and less hustle/bustle, you will like this place. Each room is evidently decorated differently and someone has put a great deal of thought into doing this. The bed linens were very nice, and the Etro bath supplies were a pleasant surprise.
On a girly note, this hotel actually provided a curling iron- I have never seen this before! The rooms had ample space, though the closet and bath were a bit small. However, this is simply typical for Europe. We had a nice stay and would return to this hotel again.

Room Tip: The rooms on the "fourth" floor (it is actually the fifth floor) have their own garden are...

First trip to Roma, Italy and I was expecting small hotel rooms, but there was plenty of space at this one. Two closets, king-size bed, large bathroom and a small balcony facing the courtyard. Unfortunately, the pigeons also made their home on the balcony, and could be very loud early in the morning.

Thought it was kind of expensive though, especially since it is a little off the beaten path. Literally down a small side street that a car (or moped!) can't drive down. But that said, it was a short walk to the Colosseo and the Termini.

Breakfast buffet was nothing to write home about and was not included in the cost of the room. Decent terrace with a so-so view to enjoy breakfast or an evening cocktail.

Staff was helpful and spoke English.

Guess I just expected a little more for the money we shelled out.

I feel guilty, as I have been meaning to write this review for some time. This is a stunning place, with a lovely roof garden right next to the forum in Rome.

This is a luxury hotel in Rome, around e200 per night. It is worth every cent, if not more. When I return to Rome again, this is where I will stay.

As you enter, what from the outside looks like a normal building, you are escorted into an incredibly luxurious hotel. The small rooms are great. The big rooms are great. The staff are very friendly with constant "prego" and support whenver you want.

At the top of the building is a lovely roof garden, where I was introduced to one of my favourite Chianti's. Free canopes are served during sunset, and it was the perfect break in my day walking around Rome.

As you walk down a sidestreet, you are immediately placed in direct line to the ancient collums of the Roman forum. Turn the corner, and you can can see the colosseum, which is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Accross the road is the archeological area. A stroll to the right gives you a short cut walk to the Trevi fountain. However, surrounding by high level residential buildings the entire hotel is exceptionally calm with no noise polution.

I highly recommend this hotel!

My wife and I just had a great stay here (4 nights) to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It is in the heart of scenic Rome with easy walk to most sites. Very quaint and built on top of actual ruins that you can visit. The staff was very polite, professional and helpful and all spoke excellent English. The breakfast was the best we had on our Italy vacation and they have a charming rooftop balcony/patio to enjoy it on. Also, evening happy hour with nice snacks is an added treat. The rooms are clean and well maintained and ours was surprisingly large for European hotel rooms. We highly recommend this hotel when in Rome!

This is a lovely little hotel ideally situated close to the centre of classical Rome in an area of narrow cobbled streets, a ten minutes walk from the Coliseum and the Forum. The hotel is actually built on top of Roman foundations and these can be viewed on request through a door near the reception area. Our deluxe room was large and furnished in a traditional style. The window opened on to a small inner courtyard /staircase but as this was quite dark there was no view. Facilities for making tea and coffee were available in the room (this is not always the case in Italy) though not replenished during our four day stay. Wifi is available in the rooms but at a relatively expensive add-on cost. For us the highlight of this hotel was breakfast! It is served on the rooftop terrace with the option of tables inside or outside. From the terrace there are views over the rooftops towards the Coliseum , quite magical in the cool of a springtime morning. The quality of the buffet breakfast was excellent, with a much wider variety of fresh food than one would expect from a “continental” breakfast. The hotel also promotes its “free” end of day snack buffet on the terrace, this was less extensive than breakfast and is only free if you buy a drink - at the relatively high hotel prices. The staff and service at breakfast were excellent, the reception staff less consistently so.
Overall I would recommend this hotel. It has character, it is conveniently situated, the rooms are comfortable and the breakfasts are great!
