We had been to Rome before but wanted to stay on the other side of the river so was pleased to find this apartment. It is metres away from the Vatican museum ,St Peters and just a bit further to Castel Sant d'Angelo. It is possible to walk to nearly everything else. Numerous places to eat and near to bus , tram and metro.
The apartment is in a nice residential block and is comfortable. We appreciated having a bit more room than a hotel room gives you. The owner is lovely and very helpful.
First, Maria-Louisa was fabulous! She is so organized with maps and lists of nearby restaurants, shops and the best gelato. The apartment was a quiet, cool, place to escape the heat. It's located right in front of the entrance to St. Peter's Brasilica.
We grabbec a coffee (right outside the door of our apartment) and headed to St. Peter's around 8:30am. There was no line.
We also were within walking distance of everything. We just crossed the river and Piazza Novena is right there. The Colosseum was a good walk but we needed to burn some calories with all the great food. Also, there's a really fun market on via Tunsi (check Maria Louisa's map), only a few blocks away. It's an amazing place with really good meats, cheeses, olives, breads, produce and pasteries.
The flat was sufficient and everything you could need except there was very little olive oil, darn. Just a tad bit left in the bottle. No biggie. Everything was clean and tidy. The A/C worked great thank goodness as it was really hot! The location was amazing and just as expected. The lift came in handy for all our luggage that was pretty heavy. One minor detail, the lights over the mirror in the bathroom didn't work but we managed fine. Maria-Kuisa was a very kind and helpful host. She was organize with places to eat and directions on a good map of places to go. The taxi stand was also very close which was great! Thanks Maria-Luisa for a very nice stay. Would recommend it to others.
Very good location indeed.. It is so close to St. Peter's Basilica, that we went to the square three times. Day, afternoon and night and was able to experience the beauty of the Square at those different times of day and night. To Vatican City is around 15 mins walk.
Right outside the entrance of the bldg. are two restaurants that seem to be doing brisk business, all along the streets are lined with stores and eateries. The area appear to be very safe. Both the Metro and the Grocery store is walking distance of around 15/20 mins. There is the higher end food store, Castrone just around the block.
The pizza place, I forget the name, ML would know, has good pizza. Next to the pizza place is a sandwich shop and cold cuts shop. We could tell it had good food judging by the number of people waiting there. We bought some cheese there and prosciutto, it was good!
When we arrived by cab, arranged by Maria Luisa, she was there to greet us just outside the building. The double doors of the building opened to a vast hallway which right away gave a sense of comfort.
It was a hot day when we arrived and was exhausted from the heat. What a relief to walk into the cool rooms. The AC units is easily operated by remote controls instead of having to fiddle around with switches and knobs.
The unit has a sitting room, next to it is the a fully equipped kitchen. There's a long hallway, that leads to good sized bedroom with a Queen bed with a big closet. And then there is the study room, spacious enough to have a cot, dining table and chairs and lots of storage. The cot was pretty comfortable to sleep on. I like this room not only because it has it's own AC, but also because of the furnishings in the room, made it feel very comfy.
The bathroom is what I'd say, "European sized" but neat and tidy. The shower though smallish, the water pressure was good and easily adjustable.
The entire place is neat and tidy and clean. It is cozy and homey. It is so nice to be able to have all those space to move around and relax after a tiring day out.
As for getting from and to the airport, unless you know the city well and know how to get around by public transportation, I would not skimp on the expense of having ML arrange the taxis for you. It's money well spent, it's $40 Euros each way, + tips, if you feel generous.
Last but not least, the hostess Maria Luisa, as all the reviews said, is one fine hostess!. Approachable and friendly and answers all questions, before and during the stay. She sat down with us and gave us a verbal tour of the area, pointers and tips on how to get around, where to shop or eat, etc. And yes, she made us our first cup of cappuccino in Rome :-) She showed us how to use the little pot.
Having a such a convenient and nice place to stay made the vacation more enjoyable.
Wonderful, luxurious apartment and helpul host. Great location for seeing Rome. Set up with all the conveniences. Highly recommended. Comfortable for the three of us.
Maria-Luisa has the best vacation rental apartment in Rome. This was my second time staying in the apartment and is was simply amazing. The apartment is a quiet oasis that will allow you to be at "home" while on vacation in Rome. It is literally next door to the Vatican and close to shops. Maria -Luisa is an amazing hostess that will make sure that everything is perfect for your stay. I highly recommend this jewel of an apartment because it is the best in Rome. I will certainly stay here again in my next trip to Rome!!!
Central location, fantastic facilities. Cooked a few meals in the flat without any problems. Plenty of hot water and comfy bed- did the job. Great to get back to after a day of sightseeing, not limited to a hotel room. Lovely busy but safe location, metro just down the road, and lovely walk from the Vatican to the centre/trevi/pantheon etc. Great value for money! Maria- Luisa arranged our taxis to and from the airport and greeted us on arrival with lots of information and explanation, wonderfully helpful for our first time in Rome and put us at ease.
