“Interesting military museum & spectacular views”
Reviewed May 24, 2014

It's worthwhile just having a wander over the terraces of the building - the architecture is stunning to see and get up close to. The (free) military museum is interesting, with signs in English and Italian. But the real gem of this attraction is the panoramic views from the top of the top. You have to pay to go up there (about 7 EURO) but as the lift ascends you will realise it was a well spent 7 Euro! The views are stunning - over all of Rome and beyond. You get a great perspective over the Roman Forum, and can see for miles and miles. When I was there I was also treated to a Freece Tricolori flypast which went right over the centre of the building - but I expect that was a very rare treat!!

“Excellent view and superb staff”
Reviewed May 20, 2014 via mobile

The view from the top is great, we could see for miles. It was a really nice day and we got very lucky. One of our party is in a wheelchair and in order to get to the top a member of staff escorted us through the museum to and through a staff area to a lift. The gentleman escorted us all the way up and down and even though he spoke no English and we spoke no italian we managed to communicate. On the way down he even let us use the staff toilets as the main tourist toilets are not wheelchair accessible. What a nice man.

The cafe was chaotic and the staff were a bit rude. But it's a nice place to sit and watch the world go by.

“A Great Treat On Our Last Day In Rome”
Reviewed May 18, 2014

Having enjoyed a week in the City, we decided on our last day to visit the towering Vittoriano, either loved or hated by all Rome residents. We knew there was a viewing terrace and a number of galleries including a section dedicated to the Risorgimento that we particularly wanted to see. We were not sure what to expect but were very impressed with whole complex. On climbing the outside marble stairs, the Tomb to the Unknown Soldier is very moving. We were no less impressed by the full dress soldiers standing guard in the hot sun. We made our way via the lift to the top view point, great views and we could pick out the places we had visited. Then we descended to the Risorgimento level and spent a good while learning about that period. Excellent displays ranging from historic items and papers to a one hundred and sixty year old bread roll ! Not least of our pleasures was the excellent roof terrace cafe, good staff and good cakes and coffee. It was a busy Sunday and we were pleased to be part of the crowd.

“Nice View Weather Permitting”
Reviewed May 15, 2014

We walked up early one morning on a beautiful day. We went to the section to buy tickets for the lift to the top on the class enclosed elevator. For 7euros each you get to go to the top. Worth the price as the views are great and the place for some fantastic pictures of the colosseum, Forum, etc.

“The wedding cake”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

Known as the wedding cake due to its wonderful architecture, it hosts various exhibitions throughout the year. I went here in April this year to visit the 'Musée D’Orsay: Masterpieces’ exhibition. Absolutely beautiful building, really interesting exhibition and to top it all off there is a lovely roof terrace with stunning views over the ancient city of Rome and a cafe for light bites.
