We chose Camping Fabulous with Canvas holidays, cannot fault them, good price many thanks to Mike and Andrew for their help and advice. The reps Pip and Aeriel were very helpful and friendly, sorted any problems immeadiately. Our 2 bed caravan was situated in a quiet area with pine trees and sun in the morning, sunloungers, BBQ and table and chairs provided for alfresco eating , air conditioning excellent in caravan no 31
Very clean and comfortable ideal for 2 people and 2 small children. The facililities on camp site very good 2 swimming pools, tennis and children entertainment , we found the restaurant expensive and not worth going to and service not good. Shop o.k. for bread and milk , supermarkets around the area are very good value, cheaper than France. We visited Ostia Antica about 20 mins away , Villa D'Este and Hadrians Villa about 45 mins away by car. We feel a car is needed if based at this site and it makes so much easier.

Room Tip: Canvas holidays in a quiet area, caravan 30 and 31 good positions.

we decided to go camping in rome as it was cheap, looked cheerful, and seemed...adventerous? it was cheap because it was in fact a good hours trip from romes centre. it 'looked cheerful' in the obviously staged photos of lots of students milling around looking like they were in part of an extended university. in reality it was full of lots and lots of familys. happy untroublesome familys, but familys none the less. adventerous is one way of looking at it. after nearly passing on on the first day due to lack of water and food when we finally FINALLy arrived at our cabin in the woods ( literally) it aws too be told we could not check in till 4pm....4pm? 4pm!?!!?!? so with nothing to do we settled down in the bar, which was next to the 'supermarket' and information centre, which basically made up the buildings for 4 miles around the place. at night all you could here was the chirping of grasshopper like creatures from the trees. which sort of ruined your sleep to the point where for two days straight we stayed in the ccabin/shack to try and gain back some sanity.
but, onto the good points. the pool was excellent!! but all the food from the supermarket and the poolside bars was veryvery overpriced to the point were we lived off salami for 4 days straight.
as for attempting to get to rome itself. HA. what a run around the bush you will have trying to complete that task. although nobody pays for the bus. like. ever. which is surely a good point.
the staff are veryvery rude. i think tehy would be happier if there were no customers to serve at all. that would be their ideal job.
of all the trips advertised, not one of them, ( apart from the night trip to rome, which was average) could actually be put into motion, as they need half the camp to agree to go before they even consider putting it on.
all in all, i would not recomend it unless you are a weary weary traveller and your whole point of coming to rome was not to actualy see rome but to instead stare at its many moterways. and trees. away from civilisation.etc

We needed an inexpensive place to stay in Rome as we were arriving late and leaving the following day for Capri. This charming hotel was quite the suprise. It was easy to get to and checkin was quick and easy. Very simple accomodations but very clean with everything that we needed for a simple over-nighter. The only complaint was that we did not get to eat in the restaurant. We were seated quickly but sat at our table and watched the wonderful food pass by as we waited and waited and waited for someone to come over and at least take our drink order. Hunger finally gave way and we left and went to a restaurant down the street. Our only regret was not staying longer. We would have like to have tried out the amenities.

I stayed here for 4 nights with my two friends and having read the reviews and the website we were expecting a great campsite in a fantastic location within easy reach of Rome. Needless to say we were slightly surprised that it took us over an hour to get from Rome station (Termini) to the campsite! In fact, the campsite is a fair way outside of Rome, right next to a very busy main road. This meant the campsite was very noisy but at the same time very isolated. There was no way we could have gone anywhere other than the restaurant on site for dinner because the buses stopped running at 8.30pm.

The restaurant itself was alright but for the prices you pay the pasta dishes were all pretty disappointing. The pizzas were absolutely amazing though and definitely home made. The supermarket on site was great and the croissants were an excellent breakfast option.

We stayed in a bungalow which was very basic but perfectly nice. Apart from the fact that the bunk bed (probably added to accommodate a third person) was so high up that it was impossible to sit up in it even for someone who is only 5'2"! The matresses weren't that comfortable either and we all had backache by the end of our stay.

The pool was lovely even though it rained for most of our stay there. The music was at a good volume so it was still possible to read your book without being distracted if you wanted. The whole atmosphere at the campsite was really fun and all the staff (especially at the info point) seemed friendly and helpful. The day trip to Pompeii was also excellent and probably the highlight of our stay here.

We spent 9 nights at Camping Fabulous with our 2 children aged 8 and 5. We booked with Canvas and the reps were friendly and helpful. The site is large, the pools are great especially for younger children as one is only knee deep with fun slides. It had a shelved edge all the way round so you could cool off whilst sunbathing at the edge. There were always enough sunbeds although we were there for the latter part of August so perhaps it was a little quieter. We were thankful for air conditioning although our mobile home was not under the shade of the pine trees so it was more necessary. The kids loved the go-karts but we needed to get to the info point early to hire them as they were so popular. We felt totally safe with our kids riding off on them around the site. Rome was fantastic...a previous reviewer mentioned the need to take passports of children to the Colosseum to avoid them having to pay - we didn't and it was fine although I had to flash some id (driving licence) to prove we are from EU. Kids travel for free (I think under 10) on the public transport which makes the trip into Rome really cheap. We went to Hydromania one day but on public transport it takes a LONG time considering it is only 20 minutes by car from the site - it was a good, fun day out though...great slides. Rome by night was a great intro to Rome for both us and the kids and was just the right length and content but it is more of an overview. Would recommend this site and Canvas Holidays!

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at this campsite and had a really great holiday. The accommodation at the site is a little small, but comfortable and the air con was a real plus. The swimming pool on site is one of the sites best assets - our 8 year old son spent most of the holiday in it - it's really safe - because it's shallow, made of a rubbery material so no slipping and the slides are like slopes they slide down (so you cannot fall off) perfect. The restaurant on site serves really nice food and it well priced. Service perfect - the front of house man is a bit miserable but the waitress make up for it. Hubby said best steak he has EVER eaten.Only down points - evening entertainment poor and site too far from anyway to go in the evenings - but we enjoyed playing pin/pong and watching beach volley. The supermarket on site is very small and not much choice - but bakery is good get there early in the morning or they run out. Main supermarket 15 min walk away (each way) not good in 34 degree heat - saw some campers wheeled little suitcase trolleys to get their stuff which I thought was a gr8 idea.
Getting into Rome centre really easy - 5 mins on buses short walk from site to Eur Fermi metro station about 6 stops (10 mins) and you are in the centre. We came back once at about 9:45 and have to say that the EUR Fermi metro station area was really badly lit, loads of teenages hanging around and we both said won't like to be there on our own any later in the night. IF YOU HAVE KIDS UNDER 12 REMEMBER TO TAKE THEIR PASSPORT AS ALL EU CHILDREN UNDER 12 HAVE FREE ENTRANCE INTO THE COLOSSEUM- BUT YOU MUST PROVE BY PASSPORT THEY ARE PART OF THE EU, we didn't know and had to pay 12 euros.
